smithf Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Maybe it has always been a problem and just that I have not encountered them much before... but it seems that I have finally discovered the second variant of the worst of Warframe experience (the first being leechers) The situation usually happens as such: 1. There was a call for group for key chaining (where each member in the group host a particular key in sequence, which will increase the number of times a rarer key can be used) 2. After the first couple of hosts, the chain "breaks". 3. When we talk to the people who have yet to, there will be either excuses and sometimes no reply at all. the unchanged result is: some people backed up on their on words and "steal" keys from the earlier people who hosted. And I am wondering if they even use the ignore list to filter out those people who have hosted. (in which case it isn't a bad thing, if ignore will guarantee that the two parties will practically be invisible to each other). Anyway, those confirmed ones will definitely go on my ignore list. I suggest that all who have the (un)luck to have encountered such to do the same. Because there is nobody that could punish the thieves (and by extension, the leechers) Because there is no real way to prevent such "thefts". It isn't so much the lost of the key (which is nothing since people hosts keys without requiring chain all the time). It is partially the impedance to the goal (we usually chain rare keys for certain desired drops) as well as being lied to, and the fact that such obvious loopholes existed without any plans of being improved. Though it is not the game dev's fault, the clunky "disband squad after a key" system actually promotes this. Also the game staff's stance means that they probably cannot take any direct actions towards leechers/thieves. So while I know it isn't their fault rationally, emotionally, I cannot help but feel that they are at least partially responsible for the overall unhappiness. sorry devs, just being truthful.) Well, at least I feel a little better after controlled venting into this post. If you have similar experiences, share your hate here and maybe we can all feel better after some combined social cursing :) Vent your hate below:

DJ_Redwire Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) Yeah, for this very reason I never join those key groups when I see them pop up in recruiting every now and then. Especially when dealing with high priority keys like T3's of various sorts, you really shouldn't trust randoms with that sort of accountability of upholding some sort of unspoken etiquette that is so open and easy to exploit. Unless you're playing with clan mates and/or close friends, I would steer clear of joining or forming these "mutual key groups." Sometimes you'll get an honest group together, but I wouldn't waste yours and other peoples good keys on that risk. Edited March 22, 2014 by DJ_Redwire
Habataki Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Void key itself is secret. You shouldn't share it with someone you don't know. You can't trust them. :D
IIJetfireII Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) Secrets are secrets, it should be shared with trustable friends and clanmates only. Edited March 22, 2014 by IIRodimusprimeII

From now on, i will only chain key with known (and more trustworthy) people, or offer to host another of the same key after I get invited to a key session (if I have the same key and the original hoster wants to go another round). It won't be as efficient as 4-key chain, but at least I can return the favor to the person who invited me.
.Absolute. Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 How can something that's not yours be 'stolen' from you in the first place?
SilentCynic Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) One of the first MMOs I ever dappled in was Eve Online, and it taught me one thing: People will try to screw you over. Keep that in mind with any in-game arrangement. Check your facts, check your zeroes, don't let people pressure you, and if something's too good to be true, it probably is. Something like a vague promise of sharing a key with others is taken on faith, and thus ripe to abuse. Edited March 22, 2014 by SilentCynic

If you still want to put teams together in this fashion with people you may not necessarily be familiar with, a good option is to form a group and go farming for the keys you want - then use those keys. You will already have confirmation that each person in the party has that very same key as you because you all received the same reward. From there, you can now run those keys you farmed as a group one by one in the same way as you would with random people who claim to have an equivalent key. You're still taking a risk, but a considerably smaller one. Just another option.
COOKINGPAPA Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I tend to share keys. With correct gear you should be able to solo most missions, unless you're going for >40 min t3 survival run. Don't rely so much on other people's keys and promises. It's their key, hence their choice whether or not they want to use it. The decision of doing charitable deeds differs for each person. Keep it simple. Be kind.
Monolake Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Happens sometimes, but I also shared and met more honest people then liars
Axterix13 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I only share keys with people I trust, for the most part. In part because the bandwidth hogging nature of the game means for me to be part of such a thing requires trading my key to someone that can host a team four. The exception to this though: if the group I farmed the key with wants to do it, I'm up for it. They've already got time invested, after all, so more likely to be trustworthy. And even if they aren't, hey, they helped me get the key, so...
