Phaeton0
I've been playing this game for about two months now and, while I love it, I can honestly say that I feel the game would be better off without the alert system. IMHO, any game that makes me feel like I have to play when *it* wants me to play, rather than when *I* want to, is asking a bit too much. And please don't tell me that I can just ignore them; there are things that can only be obtained though the alerts, and no one should feel like they're missing out on something big because they can't play *right now*. It only ends up penalizing those of us who have schedules and obligations.
seren77
I think Alerts are pure genius and the best thing about this game, After completing everything else, all my friends and I do now is the Alerts and help taxi newer players to get gear. I doubt I would play anymore without them. What exactly do you feel your missing out on? If youve been playing 2 months, you should have Auras by now. GraalOhOtonami
I think that the intention, if I recall correctly, was to be thrilled that you are on at the right time, not to be depressed that you're not on at the right time. Personally, I play specifically to stretch myself over Nightmare mode and high level alerts.
Smithyb2k14
I agree Gold they bring something new and keeps players on there toes lol and It gives players the chance to have different mods than other. I find the only annoyance about them is if you have the mobile app always going off lol.
Valiant
Not sure how they're a 'gimmick'. It's a decent (and at times) fair way of getting items you can pay for.
DaftMeat
Alerts are a nice change of pace from grinding the same missions over and over.
cloudyDev
Alerts are an interesting way of handling rewards, but maybe when they add the badlands, aura mod and such will drop there, who knows? But for now alerts are here to stay.
Lactamid
When the alerts started they were secret, so alot of people rushed in there to find out what it was. It is a bit odd now, but you get used to it.
GuardWarg
I've missed a lot of good alerts (The good helms, blue/gold potatoes, auras, etc) and while I do feel annoyed when I missed them, I'm (mostly) okay with it because there's always next time. It only feels like the game is playing you if you long for a certain alert that bad. Edited March 22, 2014 by GuardWarg
Deristel
i just think they should increase the potato alert or extend the duration of these one to a couple of day.lotsa time i missed a potato, and the one in invasions are gone in a flash
Toom1275
My main pet peeve is that they aren't yet opt-in like Nightmare mode. Alerts are a nuisance when they pop up on a level I was otherwise wanting to do, but am forced to avoid for an hour or so until the alert clears out. Toom1275
do the alert so you can do the level freely?you know.. Technically yes, but only for a non-rescue alert. Not even for all the prime parts, rare mods, and a stack of legendary cores would be worth doing a rescue. Though sitting through more than 10+ minutes in a survival mission alert my pug teammates don't want to leave so I can do the extermination mission underneath it does get annoying. Starbridge
2 months? Ok. I have been playing for a long time. As you can see I am a founder and that was a long time before they stopped it in November when they launched the game. I love the alerts. The game has me logged at 527 hours of game play, and when your sick of running bosses or farming for control mods or other things sometimes its nice to have random events pop up with random rewards. Psroij
Ok, I am really curious, every single person in this thread who is saying, "Alerts are a nice change of pace," how are alerts actually a nice change of pace? Seriously, how? They are the exact same missions you can get anywhere else on the star map, the only difference is the reward. How is that a change of pace, because I don't see it. Just as I don't see how a capture mission on a ship tile set is somehow different from a capture mission on an ice planet tile set, or a void tile set; the mission plays exactly the same regardless, the only thing that changed is the scenery which has been scene a hundred times before. All i can think of is that we can actually see the reward dangled above our hand. We know we are going to get a reward for playing the mission instead of a week or month worth of grinding hoping we get something? It's more an rng problem, but yes alerts at least let us set a goal to beat a mission and get rewarded for it.
Phaeton0
People seem to be missing the point I was trying to make in my original post: the way exclusive mods and BPs are handed out through the alert system does not reward you for playing the game. It rewards you for being available to play when the alerts you want come up, which means either having no life, or having a fair amount of luck (and don't we need enough of it with RNG?). Unless DE states otherwise, they will always be another chance to get the rewards. I missed that Blue Potato alert? Well there'll probably be another one in a couple weeks. It's a matter of patience and self-control. Play the game, don't let it play you.
