000_Briarius_000
Hi tenno, One thought I'd like to share about energy colors. Since damage 2.0 every type of damage , corrosive, blast, gas etc..has it's own color and its own particle style. Best visible on melee weapons. Since the color of those damage types are pre-determined, there is no really use of custom energy colors on weapons besides that it's visible on swings. My suggestion would be to keep the particle styles (gas, blast, corrosive, electrical), BUT let those particles use the custom energy color chosen by the user. There is an actual example for this with the Ignis. The Ignis can have damage/particle types coloured by the energy color, for example , red-corrosive or blue-gas etc..really any type of color you chose. The exact same logic should apply to melee weapons, so we could have for example, white-corrosive particle effect not just always the green one.. Just a suggestion. ;) Pls share your thought on this one.
BenzinNinJa
While I like the idea, and generally wish for more costumization, I would feel rather silly running around with red ice og my melee weapons.

Ah, but it would look pretty slick. you dont feel weird shooting purple fire out of a flame thrower?
000_Briarius_000
I think it's just about customization option really. There is nothing wrong with shooting red-ice or purple-gas or orange-blast. I personally think it would be pretty awesome to have this option on melee weapons. I imagine a red-gas flowing around my machete wraith and I just want it! ;)

Noogums
Only thing is,would this be optional? What if I don't want green ice, but I use green energy? I don't want to have to switch to light blue energy just to keep the ice from being green.

While I haven't gotten around to play with the Ignis just jet, I do see your point.
kaboomonme
I don't think it's more of a customization issue. One of the most likely reasons this wasn't already done is... recognition? The particles aren't exactly very different from each other, except for colour-wise. Unless the particles are re-done to look vastly different and unique to each other, you would probably have a really difficult time figuring out what element type a fellow Tenno is using, unless they tell you directly. Then again, this is (mostly) a PvE game, and arguably recognition isn't as important, so I'm on-the-fence for this one. It might just be me, but if we were playing, and either one of us were moving about, trying to kill stuff, I wouldn't be able to tell if you had fire, blast or &#! mods on your weapons. I'm also struggling to find any practical reason why you would need to recognize the mods on a team mates weapon. On-the-fence indeed :)
000_Briarius_000
Recognition you say. Ok , but as the last comment from BenzinNinja says, why would I wanna recognise what type of damage the other player is using? Also I think the paricle effects already have recognizable characteristics beside the color. These are pretty minor differeces for sure, but they are different, just take a closer look. for example - Gas , is a cloudy, smoke material Blast, got these thick particles Cold, is kind of similar to the gas yeah but it also has some sort of snowflake shaped particle in it Even electricity and corrosive has their different looking lightning streaks. Viral - definitely has it's own I still think these particles should get the custom energy color and they'll be still different from each other and they'd stay recognizable. Noble_Cactus
I don't feel either way on this one, though I do really like how Radiation looks on melee weapons. Now the question is: would this apply to muzzle flash as well? For example, my Acrid's energy is dark red, and it looks kind of silly seeing the splash of acid that comes out of it be green. More customization is good! ^_^ -Jin

Already Worst enough with some one using World on fire with Bright Blinding pink spamming it making my scream my eyes.
