Nvidia Physx Effects

Get a supported nVidia card... :)  Then in the display options, enable particle affects.

If you've got a displaylink (or similar) USB monitor, then that can break PhysX - it's a known issue.  The solution is apparently to boot up without the USB monitor attached, configure PhysX, and then attach the USB monitor.  I think it is working for me - certainly I've got pretty fireflies moving around at times.

And see Glorious flag animation?

Thats all physx is used for currently.

Steps:

Have a card that supports Physx

or

Have a Physx card.

And the awesome particles and lighting effects...

You need an NVidia card.

On the launcher (NOT INGAME), instead of clicking play, click the little gear on the top right. Then enable DirectX11.

Now ingame, enable the PhysX option. Boom, job done.

Note: depending on what graphics card you have, you MAY not be able to use PhysX, as the card won't be able to handle it.

You don't need a GTX700 card to run this game at maxed

I'm using a GTX 570 and have no problem running it maxed with 60fps

F.Y.I This game does run PhysX hard enough to warrant a separate card for PhysX

Nah. My 660 overclock kept stuttering.

I dunno about that. My 7850 was able to max this game out just fine, and PhysX isn't all that demanding on new-ish cards - a 660 beats a 7850 by a bit. So I think a 750ti would be more than sufficient. Maybe a 760, but not a 770, lol. Just for Warframe, that's overkill (unless OP wants overkill).

But a 750ti would do the job I think, you just won't be able to keep the game at 60fps all the time, but most of the time. You could go 760, or wait for the rest of the Maxwell desktop cards.

I don't understand why your 660 was stuttering. Could have been a driver issue? A 660 should run Warframe no problem.

I'd guess that people are running at different resolutions... At 2600x1600, my 670GTX seems fine (including PhysX), but the 650M sometimes stutters at 2880x1800 :)

Oh nice. I assumed OP was running standard 1080p.

How big of a difference is Warframe at 1600p compared to 1080p (besides the pixel difference). Is there a noticeable change?

I'm assuming this isn't a gigantic tv-size monitor.

I ran the game at max everything @1080p

Thread optimization, physx, everything.

My 770 averages at 55fps. No clue what it is. I posted for help, but it turns out threaded optimization helps more when it's on than when it's off.

All drivers are up to date.

What Kscott said.

I'm using a GTX460, and running the game 160FPS when Vsync is off, with all graphics full and PhysX on. You only need one card, and not even a new one at that! Mine is second hand!

But I would still recommend getting a 550 to 570 Ti

I know a GTX 650 TI boost will run the game on high with great framerate.

Also a GTX 645 will run on high with great framerate, the only thing I have disabled is floor reflections which after I got my new monitor (1920 x 1080) the floor reflections dived my framerate to 40. I partially want to blame sweetfx.

I don't know how high exactly they will go as both me and my brother lock our refresh and framerates at 60.

runs fine 1080p maxed on gtx760

They should just ditch the physx requirement and code the particle effect in natively so Ps4 and AMD users can get all the pretties too.

Take a look at infamous second son to see what particle effects without physx look like.

For quite a while the Geforce 770 has been in the price sweet spot. In New Zealand anyway.

A 760 is also very good.

As for brands EVGA and ASUS is very good.

Just don't buy a card that is over clocked as you pay a lot more. unless that cost is marginal

also you don't need a huge amount of Ram on a card.

so keep that in mind, as more Ram means more cost.

I personally have a EVGA 770 and I have have nothing but high praise for it.

It plays most games on maximum setting and runs very cool.

Hope this helps

Yeah actually PS4 supports PhysX via software and it's true particles look great on infamous second son.

People have hacked AMD setups to work with PhysX, but it's not for the faint of heart. The effort required is daunting, and all it takes is one driver update to mess it up.

Also, (although I bought 2 PNY 780GTX) I recommend EVGA as they are probably the best Nvidia GPU company for North America.  Be careful with "lifetime warranties" because they usually mean until the item is no longer produced or the lifetime of the product cycle.

EVGA still supports their boards after certain GPUs are obsolete.  They'll just replace with a card that has "equivalent" power.
