Soma Vs Boltor Prime Please Help Me T_T

I have the soma right now atm, and im really reluctant to switch to the boltor prime because of the forma and catalyst i put into the soma . so guys please convince me that the boltor prime is miles better than the soma in dps (not style etc pls) D:

yep, boltor is better than soma, mine does 2200 damage per bolt, 4400 headshots to light grineer lol

thanks for the replies guys. one last thing. ammo efficiency. which is better? i ALWAY run out of ammo with the soma around 30mins of survival

Ammo efficency is not important.Boltor and Soma can run very fast out of ammo on higher levels Survival/Defense.Use a ammo mutation mod on the Soma/Boltor or a good sidearm with good ammo economy like a Brakk.

I have 3-4 formas + catalyst on my Soma.

 

I still switched to Boltor Prime 

3 Forma + Catalyst

 

Boltor Prime is superior, according to dpsframe.com (some people hate this but I'm still gonna use this as a reference)

The Boltor Prime edges out the Soma vs. Void and Grineer, but completely outclasses the Soma vs. Infested and Corpus.  With the additional room for elemental damage on the Boltor Prime, you can kill Ancient Healers just as fast as the Disruptors and Toxics, and Toxin damage (added to the Magnetic) adds a ton of damage vs. Corpus.

 

Additionally, to get the Soma to that level of DPS, you need to put on a maxed Heavy Caliber, which heavily impairs the Soma's consistency at medium range.  The Boltor Prime's base 50 accuracy lets you put on maxed Heavy Caliber without much negative effect.

 

The final nail in the Soma's coffin is that the Boltor Prime is a lot easier to level and Forma.  Because it does not rely on a crit build, it is much more usable when it has low mod capacity.  Besides, it just looks and sounds cooler.

Boltor P has far superior ammo efficiency than soma, the only times I run out of ammo is in 50-60 minutes of t3 survival, so for 99% of game content you do not need ammo efficiency mods.

for ammo, use rifle scavenger aura and no ammo mutation gun, just drop another damage mod, you get 50 rounds per rifle ammo pickup that way

soma's advantage against it is no bullet travel time

 

if you play long enough you'll be keeping both

 this is my 4 forma build for the boltor prime. in the end theres many advantages / disadvantages like hitscan vs travel time projectiles. in all honesty i perfer the boltor more than the soma just cause its a classic.also  it doesn't hurt to just do both of them really

was going to list the order of potential top dps but lazied out mid way.

 

theres a fun googldocs with the best possible dps of all weapons + their total time to kill a level 100 of each heavy unit.

I personally prefer the Soma for hitscan as it is ammo efficient enough for 99% of the game's content if you are careful with it. I bring latron prime or ogris for anything where ammo is going to be an issue, but if I could only have one weapon and it was between Soma and the Boltor Prime, I would take the boltor prime as it is more ammo efficent.

why u care for dps?

 

soma is a S#&$ gun , it´s weak mid-game, not more

boltor prime is one of the best rusher guns against grineer
