Brimir
All of the Tethra/Cicero mods are V-Polarity. If we get Fire/Ice versions of these mods (which I hope, I love Blast) they will most likely get the same. Anyone else kinda bothered by this? V-Polarities are already "the best" because of how many vital mods (i.e various raw damage & multishot mods) that uses it. I kinda feel like, for the sake of diversity, they should've inherited the Polarity of the base mod (i.e a - Polarity for the Electric ones). I'm sure I'm gonna get hated for this, because it is just so much simpler with everything using the V-Polarity, lol
BrotherIcarus
Well the only thing that matters that I see is that they are only 7 cost mods they do not need a polarity really.
X3Evanescence
Its cost is 7 anyways, so I guess it wont really matter. Edit: Argh. Ninjaed. Again. Edited March 24, 2014 by X3Evanescence
theGreatZamboni
You seem to not understand the game's polarity system. Here. The V polarity is attack. That is why these new mods have a V polarity.
VKhaun
Thanks to power creep I'm pretty sure our future is going to be lots and lots of something + DAMAGE mods. Hard to believe they're all going to be V slots.... Did DE_Steve say something about the lore behind polarities going into the game soon? Or am I going crazy? Maybe it will make more sense to me when we have that, or when I'm on proper medication. Whichever is applicable.

Brimir
I've always liked the name. It literally means "to shape" in Swedish, which is quite fitting.

MechaTails
I've always liked the name. It literally means "to shape" in Swedish, which is quite fitting. Same in Spanish I dont even look at the polarities when I mod or forma stuff, I always know that I'll need at least 3 V slots for guns or Bar for melee. There simply isn't enough variety or utility in the mods to use any other polarities. And I dont know how to improve the situation without massive additions to weapon features and customizability, at which point the game's name would be changed to Gunporn lol
GraalOhOtonami
We need more D mods, right now they're all kind of pointless other than ice damage :/

Shackram
You seem to not understand the game's polarity system. Here. The V polarity is attack. That is why these new mods have a V polarity. But they're elemental damage mods and status chance mods, which are all dash polarity. Save for ice which is D polarity. I don't think DE has a method for the chaos that is the polarity system. HillsAndTheSea
it would make sense if the tethras/cicero mods were "D" since status chance mods are also "D" polarity
MeduSalem
+1 to OP... The V-polarity trend is just ridiculous at the moment... It's like DE is desperately telling us "We don't give a damn about utility... Go for damage and V-polarities and you're good!" It's like a slap into the face of everyone who's already complaining in one of the 100 threads about how the mod system needs a major overhaul because of the DPS hogs and how you're forced to use certain builds to be of use to your team. You seem to not understand the game's polarity system. Here. The V polarity is attack. That is why these new mods have a V polarity. What... Neither the Elementals nor the Status chance mods have Attack polarities. Why the hell should the Dual-stats be V then? If at all they should have been Bar- or D-polarity or probably they should have introduced another new polarity altogether a long time ago for the damn Dual-stat mods which don't fall into any of the existing categories because of mismatching polarities of the single-stat variants. Would have been a better solution in any case. Same in Spanish I dont even look at the polarities when I mod or forma stuff, I always know that I'll need at least 3 V slots for guns or Bar for melee. There simply isn't enough variety or utility in the mods to use any other polarities. And I dont know how to improve the situation without massive additions to weapon features and customizability, at which point the game's name would be changed to Gunporn lol Like that one? xD The one above is one I made some weeks ago in the everlasting war on how to fix the mod system and the friggin polarity problems for another thread... I have a whole collection of them and they are all going to waste. I won't even bother explaining how it would work because I know it doesn't get the attention of DE anyways... :P Edited March 25, 2014 by MeduSalem
MDRLOz
You seem to not understand the game's polarity system. Here. The V polarity is attack. That is why these new mods have a V polarity. And status chance is D. These mods do status chance and + damage... so could easily be on D polarity. Something which is sorely unused in weapons. http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Rifle_Aptitude Edited March 25, 2014 by MDRLOz
DoomsDayDan
There's only two weapon mods for the D polarity and that is hella whack, especially since they keep giving D slots to guns like Stug that don't even need either of the two mods that fit in it

Stug can't proc... Status Chance mod wasted. Deep Freeze... Nobody uses that ever since Ice Storm is outperforming it in every way. At this point I'd like to be immature and sh*t out much worse curse words... But it won't help. They won't re-think anything of the Mod-System as well as the useless default polarities on some weapons. xD There have been going so many hours and threads to waste and they don't even consider anything. The only thing they are doing is making the situation worse by putting polarities on weapons and mods without a second thought if it makes a broken down system even more broken. It's like they literally want themselves cornered with no other way than designing Mods 3.0 because there's no other way to deal with the mess they have created over the last year. RealPandemonium
You seem to not understand the game's polarity system. Here. The V polarity is attack. That is why these new mods have a V polarity. And elemental mods, from which the bulk of damage are derived, are -- polarity. It doesn't make sense, and it doesn't have to IMO. Stug can't proc... Status Chance mod wasted. Deep Freeze... Nobody uses that ever since Ice Storm is outperforming it in every way. First of all, Stug can proc and procs often (in AOE!) although the status chance mods that don't also have an element are useless anyway (use Pistol Pestilence or Jolt, also multishot mods.) Deep Freeze is not outclassed by Ice Storm; Deep Freeze gives more damage for fewer mod points. You can also stack the two for more Viral damage if you wish. Lastly, the optimal polarity arrangement for most weapons is three V polarities and two -- polarities. Having a D polarity on top of those will not stop you from maxing out your gun if you have a potato installed, and can give you more damage in the meantime (via Deep Freeze) while you re-level after each forma.
