Spellbinding
I'm actually concerned that the new "combo" system thing is actually going to average out melee weapons. Let me explain and hear me out. Faster weapons like Fang Prime potentially racks up more combos which can essentially make it's damage potential stupidly high. I think this is good because faster weapons that do balls to no damage will be "viable". Slower weapons like Fragor already do high amounts or damage, but obviously cant rack up combos as fast. Doing the special animations also racks up combos which further increase dps and what have you. My concern is that the new system puts such an importance on these combos rather than how the weapon actually functions. Do you give faster weapons equally fast combos? Perhaps weapons like galatine get slow combos? If galatine gets an animation just as fast as Fang Prime (Or some other fast weapon) I'm pretty sure we can see those 52k+ crits again, as well as a huge gap in dps between weapons heavy weapons and the rest. Forgive me if this was already answered.
LoGicMoTion
You're over thinking it. They have delayed melee 2.0 so far back im sure it will be almost perfect when it hits.
ArchBlood
Change is scary.
Hixlysss
Interesting point, my big concern is if the melee stats and mods get any tweaks to them with melee 2.0. On top of that, they need to do more to make...well "more" of the melee weapons useful. Also, in the stream, they mentioned how some weapons will be able to hit multiple times in one swing, that feature could help bridge the gap between the faster weapons and the slower ones. Methanoid
melee 2.0 cant be any worse than what we have now tbh, since dmg2.0 landed i havent used any melee weapon to kill stuff, only used them to copter around as their all pretty much worthless/lackluster, their just ornamental pieces for my frames. in the new system if i cant even copter or cant quickly copter because id have to switch to melee then i just wont use the new system at all period, im sure it will all look nice and flash/pretty but i doubt its going to outdo simple gun and run. as for the mechanics we can only wait and see and see how it all works. Don't set your hopes too high. It may be good, but "perfect" is a stretch. It'll have it's initial flaws, it's initial bugs that'll have to be squashed, and it'll take a little while for us to get used to it. Don't expect it to be Jesus Christ Superstar right out the gate. Lunamaniac
It'd take a lot to make comboing more effective than a certain charge attack...
Spellbinding
Yeah but if you're bridging the gap aren't they effectively making all the weapons do the same thing? It's just deviance in how the weapon is executed at that point.

Most likely, anyway. Don't mix much the emense amount of work it takes to bring melee 2.0 into existance with its balance. They need to get the core iteration done and actually finish the main work on it (animations, systems, etc.) before it can be seriously tested for balance. Stormandreas
I think it'll be great, as then people can take Melee weapons they like to use and the look of, over weapons that are the most powerful (if it works the way you say it might)
Coratha
... in the new system if i cant even copter or cant quickly copter because id have to switch to melee then i just wont use the new system at all period ... Don't worry, DE already said that melee as it exists now will still exist with a quick tap of the E button. All the flashy new Melee2.0 stuff is in addition to that, for when you have your melee actually equipped.
ensignvidiot
In short, yes im worried that this will get really messed up in one way or another. Or that melee will be the new god-king of combat. In either case, im waiting for Melee 12.0 to pass judgement. and im trying my hardest to not go: OMG THAT LOOKS SO COOL I HAVE AN ORTHOSANDIFORMA'DITFORTHISREASONANDTHEDAKKRATOOAND*breathe* This has the potential to bring blades up to the terretory of guns. I want diversity in people's loadouts, and i want diversity in cell's combat tactics. ... and i want to take my loki and clear a room before that nova player has a chance to even THINK about hitting '4'
