Alerts Available To Those Who Have Cleared Entire Star Map

"Cleared all of X area" achievements are fairly standard in many games, and a "Cleared entire map" achievement that gives a neat cosmetic reward is also common. I'd appreciate it, for one. As for the reward... we don't have titles, but maybe a badge?

The sad thing is, because clearing the starmap doesn't really give anything much (the mastery for clearing a node the first time is dwarfed by a single level on any weapon) it's really hard to find groups for higher level nodes. Stuck with two incomplete nodes on Pluto because there are never people running them.

Locking void behind the starmap only makes sense for progressive unlocks - T1 void is much easier than, say, Ceres.

nah this thread started as a whine that 'when I was new I had to clear the whole node before I got a notice of an alert.  Kids these days have it too easy, gimme stuff to compensate me for the work I did they don't have to do.'

Yes it is.  and I don't mind a little gold star, or a cookie, or hell *special* alerts for people that have put in the effort to grind out the map, but don't fool yourself that it has anything to do with an improvement because that is in the works in getting rid of the system.

Like I said, all grind is not the same, and right now the grind to unlock the star map is fruitless and unrewarding AND boring, and that makes bad game play which is why it is being replaced.  The fact it is being replaced is 100% relevant to the conversation because... well F*** all lot of good it does to throw out ideas on something that is not going to be around much longer because it was bad design.

IF the game had progression, AND IF the game had a story, AND if there were about 100 fewer nodes then putting the void and derelict behind unlocking the solar map might make sense.

But the game has none of that and what i'm arguing against is your post that you should not be able to play a void mission until you've unlocked the whole map, and I will repeat that is a bad idea and would make me just quit.

There are aspects to the game that are fun, despite the grind and that is why many of us play games... you know for fun.  Unlocking the whole map is not fun it is a @(*()$ chore and i'm not going to @(*()$ do it.  So yes any content put behind that wall of tedious S#&$ IS punishment.

And you know what?  DE understands this which is why the Solar map is getting replaced by the hubs.

So feel special about yourself that you cleared the map.  I salute you for the penance, and making special alerts or a badge or a gold star is a fine idea but preventing me from doing something FUN by making me do a LOT of S#&$ is going to drive me... and a lot of players away from the game.

The alerts are visible to all because things like Vauban parts and Auras are a much bigger part of the game than they were when the alert system was put in place.  Allowing lower ranked players and those who have not progressed that far in the map to know about something they may want/need is a GOOD thing.  Restricting parts of the game, when the game has no real progression is a bad thing.  Locking the void behind unlocking the whole map which is what I was posting against to begin with, is a very bad idea.

I have not bothered to clear the map. My point is your standards for grind are different to my own, so it is simply a manner of opinion. You for example may be the type to grind for mastery rank; I am not.

My standards for boring grind are actually quite low, except in instances where the "grind" becomes more of  a passive activity which does not occupy my short-term focus i.e. any very long-term project.

But that hardly matters because from what I've seen the majority of players here not only don't mind lots of grind, but (compared to me) seem to be especially adapted for it.

as to the chart replacement being relevant; general discussion in general isn't exactly going to be useful 100% percent of the time anyway, and there's the concept of the Hypothetical, where you stop trying to change the subject so you can focus on improving a single idea to the best of it's capacity.

I will concede that as it is, the star chart's out-of-the-way nodes with useless incentives is sub-par.

this thread was never started as a "whine" and the reward I want is completely logical. Instead of turning this thread into an argument, I will just ask that you try to use constructive and not offensive criticism.

Returning to the topic at hand, the more I think about this the more I get excited. Is there a place this can be suggested, or should I just hope that DE deems this a good idea?

What would everybody like to see as a reward? I think an all new color palette, unlocked one color at a time would be cool. Maybe even metallic colors?
