I love this guy. His videos had high quality and good humour. Did you saw these words in the title? This question still bothers me since Closed Beta times :|

Dat intro LMAO X)

+Sums up  pretty well how the new player experience is XD

Indeed. That's actually funny, but also terrible in the same time, just because of that new players can quit and miss so much fun and awesome things that you can discover further in the Warframe

I now MUST create a new account and find out.

It's terrible.  I might have nightmares.  Also, record this and post it to the forums, for educational purposes.

Dat video though.  Had me laughing and my coworkers are worried now.

Sadly, that won't really give the same results this guy had. A truly new player will do what I did: Not know what a mod is, where to equip them, etc. What weapon do I go for? There is a direct upgrade to the mk1 Braton in the form of the Braton? What are credits used for? You get the idea.

As a new player myself, only starting a few weeks ago, I'll be honest here, it would have been a lot tougher to get into if my brother didn't show me the ropes and all. It's not nearly the most complicated game out there, but some things really could stand to be spelled out a bit better. Simple things, really. The Braton is a good starting point; encourage the player to buy it with their accumulated credits before the Assasination mission against Vor or something, to introduce them to the shop. Around this time maybe encourage players to equip a mod like redirection as well? Some of the biggest issues I had stemmed from my lack of understanding of these features. I had no idea where to start to make myself any stronger aside from just leveling up my weapons by doing missions.

On topic though: This video is awesome. Checked out this guys channel, and he's one of those guys that I feel deserves way more attention. If only he uploaded more.

-Snip-.

I agree.  I started a new account to test the new player experience and I was appalled.  I have 300 hrs into the game and it was terrible starting at 0 again.  My brothers girlfriend just started and it's made me realize just how bad it is for new players.  She's just discovered mod fusing and the market.

I wish DE would provide links to approved how to videos on the launcher, as well as the forums.  I've run into several newbies that didn't know about the forums or how to navigate it.

Yeah, cant be easy being a new player to WF, so he quit at his first survival mission?

wonder how many players quit this game because of bad game design?

Hive making video series called "First hour". This one must be one of those

Gathering first impressions and then sharing it with viewers. But he wouldn't stop to play, i hope to see another video about Warframe soon

It is rather disconcerting how the "New Player Experience," continually gets worse with each pass. If anything; Damage 2.0 needed to expand enemy levels instead of compressing them. And there shouldn't be any shield bypassing procs until Mars or Jupiter. And they should restore energy orb values that you get from containers back to 50. There's too much energy for veteran players who have streamline and fleeting expertise, but nowhere near enough for new players who have neither, and largely rely on their powers to survive and/or do any real damage.

DE has repeatedly been given the opportunity to consult with veteran players who could provide feedback to significantly improve the "New Player Experience," with very little time or coding involved. But to their, and ultimately the game's, and everyone who plays its detriment; none of the people who could give feedback to quickly and easily solve this problem have ever been contacted by DE.

Remembering how hard it was to explain the game to a friend of mine who recently started Warframe. Literally could only post Wikia-links most of the time and hold his hand through every step. :D

I wonder that the guy from the video didn't pick on the Mod and elemental/damage system... But I guess he didn't make it this far. xD

Still have problems explaining Damage 2.0 to one of our clan mates who's been absent since December. He still doesn't get the basics of how the system works and puts the Elemental mods on randomly and wonders why he doesn't do jack sh*t to the enemies. :P

I'm pretty new.  It's definitely tough just getting into the game.  I got to Earth just pugging with other folks, even soloing a couple things.  Then Eurasia happened. I may have tried and failed with 10-15 different groups before I got into one with some high level guys and we kept it together.  I knew what to do in only worrying about three nodes, but my Braton just couldn't cut through the swathe of spawning guys.  Love the fact that there are hard missions, but having them block progression is painful.

I've got some high level buds whose missions I join in on once in a while, I dig the defense and survival modes with them, we usually hit 30 minutes before we have to bug out.  They could probably go longer, but I start going down at that point when it takes a full clip from my primary to down one bad guy.  Even trying my hardest on my Excalibro, I can barely get to 10-15% damage done, which makes me sadface.  Nobody likes to feel like they're being carried.

When I got the Braton, I sold my MK1, because hey, need credits for fusing!  Newbie mistake, I had only ranked the MK1 up to like 10 or so.

Got my Excalibur, Braton, Lato, and Skana to 30.  All my credits have gone to fusing.  Now I have repurchased the MK1 and am re-ranking it for the Mastery, I'm nearing 3 now.  The Dex pistols are a gift from the heavens, I had just bought the 3 shot burst auto pistol, forget the name at the moment.  Seriously loving those weapons.  My friends helped me farm the prints for Rhino, and I have everything I need but Sensors and a Controller, and of course the credits.

The thing that bugs me is that I don't have enough credits to buy new weapons to rank.  My current frame is 30 and I don't have enough materials to build another frame.  All that is being wasted.  Same with my Skana. Need to buy something else.

The way I see it, a new players credits are mostly going to fusing basic modules to get into the game.  Now I have a pretty good base and can pull the high stuff out of weapons I've already ranked, but obviously they don't fit into low rank weapons.  I think I read that fusing modules of different polarities is not as efficient, but that's definitely not too apparent and I probably wasted many credits that way.  If I had duplicates of another mod, I just thought of them as fodder for fusing without taking polarity into consideration.  But I need to farm up all those credits to build the rhino parts and then buy the print on top of that.

That puts a screeching halt on fusing anything else to make myself better, which makes it harder to pull my own weight and progress through pick up groups on Earth.  Without a clan and having higher level players "taxi" you to higher end systems, farming items for new frames is very difficult.  Even in my small but awesome clan, who knows when I'll actually have the materials and credits to get into a new frame?

I'd love to see the three basic "starter" frames brought to an easily attainable level for new folks.  Give new players the prints for free when they start the game.  Make ALL of their parts farmable from Mercury, Venus, and Earth, and make the credit requirement reasonable.  Perhaps around 5k each for helmet, chassis, and system and 5k-10k for the the final build.  That would at least give us a way to experience different frames.  Right now I feel locked into Excalibur for a long time.  I'm enjoying the hell out of it, for sure, but I'd love to be ranking up a new frame and trying something else out to see if I might like a different play style better.  Everything just seems so far away right now.

Thanks to Skynin for posting this up here! The response has been great. I'm glad everyone has seemed enjoyed the video. I have actually kept playing the game since making the video. I do think there is room for improvement in helping new players figure out what everything is, but it is still quite a fun game to play with friends.

Thanks to everyone for watching!  I greatly appreciate it.

Lack of credits is a problem early on, but that is to push you towards buying the boosters.

You go from outright poverty to fully loaded in a couple of good days play with the boosters.

I remember running around with an unmodded Burston and an Excalibur with rank 0 vitality and redirection, not to mention no other important ones when I just started out. Took me a month to know you could level mods. I remember asking myself why I died so much -_-.....

Well, now it's all good! I say to new players-
