Mastery Rank?

-Ex-Gamer-

Question

I was wondering what is the benefit of being high on mastery rank besides the trades per day? I have 12 trades per day I only use about 4-6, but why keep getting new stuff? and also the Solar System .. I'm a bit disappointed .. no reward for completing it. I get that 3 titans at 10 but at rank 10 you should know where to look for resources if needed so I don't think that's worth it.. anyways just asking  example a titan extractor will pick up 4-7 Neural Sensors in 4h.. but if you farm Alad V you can get more than 25 in 1h.

Word in the solar system is that it'll help with the new end game content coming in future updates. Like, the new grind system will be less grindy if you're at higher rank.

Although, I could have dreamed this >.>.

Atm, there's no actual point of MR beyond 10. I will note, extractors actually become kind of vital for the progression from 10 to 15.

As others have mentioned, the "Focus" thing will use MR to grant you buff slots when it comes, but it's slotted for sometime after melee 2.0 8.0.

Biggest number is best number of course.

If video game communities have taught me nothing else it's that your self worth and value as a person is directly linked to the size of your numbers.

(In all seriousness there isn't really a reason right now other than bragging rights and maybe personal goals)

Why is this? I'm currently MR9 and haven't even looked at the extractors. I've heard nothing but extremes,

i.e. "they're a total wasteblahblahblah" .....Or

"dude, they totally get me like 500 orokin cells and 256 neural sensors every other day brah.."

I've been progressing at a fairly quick pace, imho.  What role will these extractors play in later ranks? If you could just elaborate a bit please.

The OP: Mastery rank unlocks some features.  After rank 10 it doesn't do anything, but the claim is that it will someday.  Currently it's just the "high score" of this game.  Increase it to...well....to increase it.  I see it as an excuse to level a weapon that totally stinks. Why are you here shooting things anyway?

The aside: My extractors mostly get me garbage mats, but since I never let them die it was a one time cost to get me recurring input.  However, they do occasionally (as in once a month or less) get me one of the rare resources, i.e. Orokin Cells, Neural Sensors, Neurodes, etc.

I could definitely get those things up much faster by just going and farming them, but having a small input of them to have a few waiting around for me is nice.

If you don't have common/uncommon resources coming out of your ears then they are fabulous.  If you do then...~shrug~...it's a few clicks for some resources that you might want someday...maybe...sometimes.

Well, they arent a wate at all. Granted it is rare for them to pick up things like orokin cells. However they give you a good supply of everything else. Heck at one point i was crafting all the clantech weapons and ran out of salvage. They solved that issue real quick. They also give a nice supply of plastids and rubido. (depending on planet)

As long as you catch them before their HP runs out, they will heal themselves. Therefore you really only need one ever few days as long as you have extras to swap out.

But what does it have to do with it being vital to progression from rank 10 to 15?

I don't have any problems farming mats when I need them, plus my job doesn't allow me a real guarantee that I'll be able to pick them up and deploy them with any kind of schedule.

Funny if it wasn't for the extractors and the Penta I'd still be sitting at MR4.  I got the Soma when it was MR0 or 2 whatever it was when it came out, then the event weapons like strunwraith and brakk so I really wasn't in need of ranking up to get a weapon to move to higher tier game play.

The judging I got from being low MR was kind of a nice douchebag test as well.  Actually had people look up my profile and come back to the forums to tell me I don't know what i'm talking about because of low mastery rank.  Also back when your MR showed on your avatar in the lobby as a group I was asked to leave somewhat regularly, or people would quit the group and re-form without me because of the MR.  It helped me locate people I didn't want to play with.  Your MR is a bit more hidden now so harder to get judged and I REALLY wanted the Penta.

So I leveled up for the penta then realized I wanted a few more trades per day, then realized I wanted 3 extractors, so now i'm 10.

The extractors are just nice for when i'm away, IF I can swap them in the morning but at the minimum i can do a Titan harvest in the evening and Distiller harvest over night.  Yes farming for what they give is a bit faster but it is giving me stuff when i'm not playing.  8 Ocells and 6 neurodes in the last 2 days is nice.  Not a huge deal but I got that stuff while I wasn't even playing.  Still need neural sensors most and I keep getting crap from that planet.

Well you were wondering about their effectiveness.

Within the past month or so i have crafted all the weapons. If it wasn't for the extractors i wouldn't be close to finished. They really are not that expensive. Though what do they do for you MR? Nothing. Other than helping you craft stuff.

Most likely Llyssa means that procuring enough resources to increase rank beyond 10 becomes quite the burden.  I forget the exact function to how many mastery points is required at each level, but it's proportional to rank^2 I believe.  So ...10^2 = 100 11^2 =121 12^2 = 144 ... 15^2 = 225.  Meaning, rank 15 takes 225x as long to progress through than rank 0 (assuming you level weapons at the same rate as you did at rank zero which is silly to say-but you get the point) and requires that many more times weapons/frames/sentinals/map progress to do so.  That's a lot of crafting to be done.

Getting to rank 15 requires you to max somewhere north of 90% of all 22 existing frames and all 134 existing weapons.

BUILDING all of that to rank it up requires ungodly amounts of everything.

So your options are A: Be fabulously wealthy and shell out several thousands plat to get all the weapons, B: gather every resource you can get your hands on.

Statistically, you'll be going with option B, which means you need them deployed to gather all sorts of things. Aiming for spuds and neurodes is a bit of a must, and the byproducts while you're working on those tends to fill out most of the rest of the inventory requirements(basically everything but polymer bundles).

A regular extractor gets 4 bundles per 4 hours. Distilling extractors get 4 bundles per 8 hours, but have 2x chance to get rares. By bundle, I mean the little resource things you pick up in missions--the amounts are equivalent to 4x pickups, and have an equal chance of randomness in size to a normal pickup--on cells, that means 4, on things like salvage, that means anywhere from 390 to 720.

It's entirely plausible to just farm for the materials, but if you want to actually enjoy the game at all, you're better off letting the extractors handle the bulk of the farming for you. Just a quick check in several times a day will feed you enough resources to cover most of the costs of building 100-something weapons.
