Casardis
Marelok seems better in single targets and has a longer range. Therefore, Brakk would be a better option for the Dread so that when you're swarmed, you can easily dispatch crowds with your sidearm.

Kartumterek
DE way of showing you guys to look forward and not the past on certain things... Marelok superior to the Brakk in everything that matters. Range, and usability. Its not even a contest. Why you think the Marelok came out same time as the G3? Wallace24
the marelok is an amazing gun. but to pair with the dread, you'll want the brakk to take care of anything that comes in close. brakk can take out hordes of enemies with ease when they're all grouped up in medium to close range. that's one thing you can't rely on dread to do, so that's why you take the brakk

Brakk is for point-blank, which coincidentally, is where most encounters take place. I'd take Brakk any day. Also, would you care to explain your "useability" quip? MrJxt
Marelok is much easier to obtain.

"Marelok superior to the Brakk in everything that matters. Range, and usability. Its not even a contest." this. in OP case when using Dread you'll kill everything fast enough, with thunderbolt you can easily sweep enemies. now the only time you get surrounded it means you can't kill them fast enough with your dread (high level enemies), my example : getting surrounded by high level Void Heavy Gunner, the brakk won't do that much good while Marelok can still 1-3 hit them in the head, Marelok still faster in cleaning mobs than point-blank Brakk not to mention you need close range too

Cynick
Not only is thunderbolt garbage but Brakk still has double the DPS which is easy to maintain at close range. It is definitely my choice when using bows or snipers. If using a shotgun or the Penta on the other hand, Marelok, hands down.
Darzk
They do about the same damage per shot, but Brakk fires faster and has falloff. As stated above, they're pretty equal, just optimal for different circumstances. When playing with a Bow, I like to hang back, so might want Marelok for taking out trash to save ammo (etc Surv). On the other hand, I might prefer the Brakk if I worry about getting penned in or stuck in melee (etc Defenses)

Unless you're just referring to regular Lv1-20 play. yea that's what i mean, for low-mid level then when things got harder Marelok will clean enemies faster than Brakk (maybe the main reason because of that falloff range) Thunderbolt built still do well in regular T3 exterminate or T3 def early waves not only until lv20
Darzk
Even dealing headshots, the Marelock will still do a tiny bit less DPS than Brakk just blasting away at the body. Aim the Brakk at a mobs head, and, well...
