Thank you DE, this clears up a LOT.

What exactly does it clear up?

All it does is put a huge amount of time between the events of Dark Sector and Warframe (indicating that the events of Dark Sector would've taken place in "ancient times" from the Orokin perspective).

The questions as to how the two interlock are still very much unanswered.

Everyone always gets up in arms whenever there is something even remotely resembling a dark sector reference. They've already made statements that put Warframe in a considerably different time period, with which we won't know the exact details until the lore becomes available via DE (as opposed to circumstantial references).

Weird, because a few devstreams later they said the opposite.

Well we're both without evidence but our own memories. As far as I'm concerned, they've taken too much from Dark Sector and it'd be such nonsense if they weren't in the same universe. The Technocyte virus just happening to exist in both universes? The 4 legged jackal just appearing in both universe? A throwing weapon that is 3 pronged and returns to it's thrower and called the glaive just happening to exist? Hayden Tenno and the Tenno just happening to exist?

If it wasn't the same universe it'd be horrifically poor writing. There's so much that is taken from Dark Sector that it'd be absurd and damn near insulting for it not to exist in the same universe.

Also, candy cane scythe skins proves that Santa is alive and well, and in Warframe he's a Tenno who murders all the naughty little grineer and corpus children.

Never played Final Fantasy, have you?

They seem like they take place in the same universe, but in Steve's words, Warframe is Dark Sector's "spiritual successor".  Very similar concept, but possibly not the same universe.

As for the Proto skin, it's a nod to Dark Sector, but it's just here as a milestone limited time offer.  I don't think it necessarily makes it canon.

Dark Sector is also a long time, maybe millennia (THOUSANDS of years) before the events of Warframe.

This is sort of like saying a person is a descendant of Artorius Castus Pollus (the origination of the King Arthur myths) or Gaius Julius Caesar, or even better Markus Junius Brutus the Younger. Fun to speculate, but actual documentation will be sparse to say the least.

its called mythology. the 2000s era is a mythical era to the Orokin era just like Greek, and Romans were a fun little mythical era we blew up big in the form of 300. Which is why the name Tenno was passed on to us. Because of the actions of Hayden. Hayden was like the Hercules of the 2000s. Hence he became legend.

As for the suit I imagine Lotus found the instructions to build it, or found it in an old tomb, and made copies of it.

Probably. Excalibur's lore entry event mentions the "Warriors of Old" with great reverence.

Well some people are going to insist on being wrong until the very bitter end. They tell us in the last dev stream they are releasing origin lore this week and we get Hayden's frame. How much more clear must they make it? There's a lot of unanswered questions still but they are most definitely and undeniably in the same universe. Darksector is warframes ancient past.

As they say, deal with it.
