Why Is Proto Armor Limited Edition?

Seems a bit... unnecessary.

Cause most folks dont use EX after their first go so if they left it on the market it would just end up taking up space since folks would likely wait until they had the spare plat.

If it's limited it's very likely that most of the people that would wait and think about it would just pick it up now.

Though you do realize, eventually there will be people that missed it, and eventually there will be threads with people whining that they had "no money during that period of time" and other excuses to rant.

Doesn't stop me from liking the skin though. It's gorgeous.

Its the 1 year anniversary, why should people here after the anniversary get the anniversary skin.

Common sense doesn't always win, sad to say.

We call that a cashgrab

It's like we didn't even get an exclusive weapon.

[sarcasm intensifies]

On another note, it's an exclusive in the same way that the halloween day of the dead weapon skin pack was, or the candy cane scythe skin (was that outright removed as well or is it still in game?) and the holiday cosmetic packs. This time though we all got a free rather kick-butt set of machine pistols, and the cosmetic is extra for those who want to buy it.

It is a holiday skin in celebration of the 1 year anniversary of open Beta. It's just like Shamrock, Valentine's and Halloween color palettes. It's a commemorative thing. But of course since it's a skin, SOMEONE is going to complain. I've never seen a thread about people being upset over exclusive color palettes. Plus the colors are basically free, since they are only credits. The skin is also something you have to pay for. So. If you can't pay for it within 7 days, which in all honesty is a pretty good amount of time to buy that amount of plat, then it's just an unfortunate occurrence. There will be PLENTY more new content, exclusive or not, so it's just something some people may not have. Everyone can't have everything unfortunately. :/ That's how the cookie crumbles in this world. Not to mention the slight greed I am sensing, because yeah you have to buy the skin, but YOU DID GET A FREE WEAPON. Lol. Like. I don't understand. Plus some people don't even play or care about Excalibur regardless of the new skin, but the people who do will shell out for it.I do wish that all the people that wanted the skin could have. But. That clearly can't and won't happen. Bleh. I've said too much.

No, just another free weapon slot.

[reskinning intensifies]

Sarcasm aside, I'm keeping mine just out of sentimental value. Not like I need sub-functional ammohogging akimbo secondary #5. Hopefully they make the Dex archetype a bit more unique than adding a higher mag/stock cap and some pitiful status chance buffs (Because, lets be real, DE is deathly afraid of any serious status vamping).

I'm sure their anniversary is quite a commemorative event, just wish they made it feel that way. 7 day limit for every f2p player to hunker down and grind out 100+ plat or give into impulse purchases? Yeah, no. I'd rather have another free palette over any of this, it seems to be a far cry from what they did for St. Paddy's anyways.

They give us a free weapon, and a chance to buy an exclusive skin that's actually the most involved cosmetic skin they've ever designed for the game... and you would rather have a free color palette over that?

I've heard of entitlement, but this is just crazy.

I didn't hear people complaining how the Shamrock color palette was only available for 24 hours. I don't see why the Proto-Armor being available for only a week should be any different, or any worse.

Unnecessary or otherwise, I bought the skin. I had the same thinking as you, OP, about the founder's package. I could have bought it in order to obtain the excalibur prime warframe, but I didn't because I thought, at the time, that excalibur sucked and would probably never use him past rank 30. Now, I horrendously regret that decision. The proto skin will never be available again, and, to a collector like myself, that's a nightmare. I feel crappy enough for not obtaining the cicero mods and event badge because I had dropped this game at the time of the event. This is a good game, I think, and collecting limited-time offers like these make people like me very happy.

Also, when I logged in earlier, my prize of the day was a 50% platinum coupon. Like hell I wasn't going to buy this skin. 150 platinum for a limited-time item is nothing.

Because limited rarity stuff drive the profit. I'm ashamed to admit but I used to play (still do from time to time) a flash chat "game" called Adventure Quest Worlds and every week they release a batch of cosmetics that go rare in few weeks and the "game" pretty much strives on it. It's surprisingly as effective as Skinner box

Not just AQW, a lot of games do that as well. But yeah, I remember that game. I've got at least 5000 unspent AC on that.

Well at least I never spent a cent on that one. Then *@##$ed to my guildies about how free players are treated like S#&$ there and guild leader recommended me WF as a fair f2p game :D God, it's almost been a year...

OT, I'm kinda tempted to buy that Proto armor. It would be an incentive to finish scanning Ambulas and rebuild Calibur.
