Who knows? It can be reality.

Either you die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

In all worlds of lore there are forces of good and evil which, to ensure that anything can exist, must remain equal. I think there were too many tenno who knew what they were doing and so at least one needed a corrupt buff to balance the system. Evil has it's own ways into the minds of those who even doubt the rightious. Sure enough the stalker is no more powerful than your average tenno, except that he knows his enemy from the inside out. The stories about him say that he WAS a tenno, suggesting that what ever evil has corrupted him, has taken complete control of, and redefined him rather than just influence him.

This time evil has chosen quality over quantity.

Evil is only perception tho, which is what someone above was kind of saying, what if we are the evil ones, being manipulated by Reb....Lotus, to do evil and eradicate the Corpus and Grineer?  The Stalker got wise to the machinations of the Lotus and now strikes out at the Tenno who make the biggest impacts when he knows he has the best chance?(after beating a boss then using low level gear lol).

The Stalker = Luke Skywalker, and we are the stormtroopers?

Hmm, maybe lotus IS the stalker?  I mean think about it, we don't ever see the stalkers face AND the whole voice difference?  Well its a advanced suit, are you telling me that they have no way in the warframe world of voice modulation?

yeah i was thinking about that ending quote of Dark Sector so it kept running through my head like...Hayden Tenno just might have lived long enough to become the stalker, after being released from Cryostasis either that or Hayden is still in Cryostasis....hmmm...

Which story are you referring to that suggests he was a tenno? In his own codex log he talks about the tenno suggesting he is not one of them and refers to those rewarding the tennos (probably high ranking if not royal Orokins) as "our" cold and gold emperor suggesting he is one of them (Orokin I mean).

Of course this could also just show how he was a tenno that somehow got turned and distanced himself from the rest of his brothers and sisters, strengthening his loyalty towards the Orokins.

synapse with modified 70k crits. but meant like if its a full team mission then there will spawn 4 but when solo then only stalker himself ;o would that be great?

it would give us more of a challenge that we oh so need, i mean i take out boss fights like no problem there isnt really anything i havent been able to solo yet given the right gear and mod build.

Critical thinking. However the monologues of our foes are not those of a righteous population. We do what we do not only by the lotus' word but also by the implications of what we do. The story behind the tenno (coming from a distant universe/galaxy) together with the fact that we sometimes fight WITH the Grineer and Corpus suggests that the Tenno is indeed a neutral faction, restoring balance rather than power to either force. Whether we're being manipulated or not, what we do is what is needed. Perhaps the impact of the tenno played too great a role in the succession of good and so the Stalker came into play.

With all this we could argue that because all life forms are contributing to the balance, or continuation rather, of the system, the Stalker is needed as a "threat" to better justify the tenno's cause.

Maybe we are in fact the evil do'ers, according to the rules and laws of this system, but if the tenno had to die out, what would become of this place? Would Vey Hek destroy the planets he wanted to, or would he be satisfied with the absence of the way-overpowered force of the tenno? Would the lotus look for another cause or would it fade into neutral? Would the system survive?

It's all very arguable but that's for another day. Right now all that we know about the Stalker is that he used to be good, now he is evil, and it works.

Those are some very valid questions, and agreed for a different day as it could very well be debated for either side since it is entirely based on perception, the only thing I would change would be the stalker used to fight with us, and now fights against us.  Just to avoid the specific implication of who is good and who is evil.  We could very well be antagonists or even anti-hero's but no one really knows except maybe DE, tho I am not sure if they really know yet either.  I appreciate your insight and questions either way.

edit: oh and part of my reasoning and belief towards us possibly not being the good guys is the monologue from the old golem and I think phorid also says the same thing or similar things but idr offhand atm, the (remembering the rough idea not verbatim) "we are the same why do you kill us?"

That kind of makes me think that maybe the "infested" once ruled this galaxy before we two legged beings came and started fighting over everything. Lol imagine that. We are the Nazi's and they are the jewish. (Figuratively speaking) Personally I think DE haven't yet provided enough lore around what's going on in this world. The most that some of us know is that we kill things and get rewarded for it, end of story. The wiki provides bits and pieces extracted from artwork/media and minimal context in-game, not enough to give me an idea of exactly what kind of passion I'm supposed to be high on when I'm in the ship on the way to my mission. I suppose there is a certain freedom to fill in gaps that don't make it completely role playing, which is different to other games - although I can't say if it's innovative or lazy.

I know what you mean, the way I see it taking into account Dark Sector, the Technocyte virus basically caused a zombie apocalypse, with the zombies being the technocyte infected/infested which could very well have been because of the orokin since i remember reading somewhere that they had created the virus.  The orokin realized they #*($%%@ up and put there best warriors that they had tested the virus on successfully on certain "candidates" due to the way it had effected others on earth like Hayden to have a better chance to combat the infected/infested once their food source ran out? and they stopped multiplying as much?

Theorycrafting ftw lol
