8bit_Ghost
Since darkSector has been officially officially linked to Warframe, a thought came to my head that has some interesting ideas attached to it. Hayden Tenno is the first Tenno (it's been proven by the Protocalibur suit and the Glaive). Hayden was infested with Technocyte and it merged with his body, allowing him to create the Glaive and later maximize his potential with the Suit. Now, in darkSector, anyone infested by the technocyte doesn't just automatically become a zombie, normally. What happens first is that they're driven mad by the pain they feel, and it causes them to rampage and succumb to the disease. Hayden Tenno, though, suffered from a different disease beforehand: congenital analgesia, the inability to feel pain. Fast forward many years. Maaaaany years. Now, in the Warframe universe, the Tenno exist. The name Tenno can mean three things: people that are trained and conditioned to be like Hayden Tenno, people that are directly related to Hayden Tenno, or both. I mean, the name Tenno could point to a huge family of people. People that inherited two things: the technocyte in Hayden's blood, and his congenital analgesia. If Hayden didn't have congenital analgesia, but had children while infected by any amount of t-cyte, maybe these offspring would have died of pain or became infested faster. It's not the most important lore, but I think that Tenno have congenital analgesia which allows them to have their power without going insane. It's possible that the combination of human cells mutated with congenital analgesia and technocyte in the bloodline allowed Tenno to become the first and only human-technocyte beings existing. However, I don't think this is all that allowed the Tenno to fuse with the technocyte so efficiently. It is implied in Ember's codex that children infested with Technocyte were found and either locked away or researched later (as Kaleen's superior states that they did not place those children on the ship). Ultimately, though, they were locked away, and not taken back out until the Orokin had already engaged in war with the Sentients and needed to fight back. Which then leads to this snippet from Excalibur's lore: In our desperation we turned to the Void. The blinding night, the hellspace where our science and reason failed. We took the twisted few that had returned from that place. We built a frame around them, a conduit of their affliction. The Tenno were taken out of the Void, a place where science and reason failed. It is possible that the Void was the perfect incubator for the Tenno, allowing perfect fusion of Technocyte and Human cells into this new race. But if the Tenno truly are descendants of Hayden, then the question still stands: do Tenno feel pain, or can they not because of inherited congenital analgesia? If they cannot feel pain, perhaps the Tenno are more of a super soldier than we already knew.
immolator1001
Not feeling pain is actually a really bad trait since you don't know when something is wrong with your body. I think they can feel pain, but their ninja training allows them to acknowledge it, but not let it inhibit them.

I think they can feel pain, but their ninja training allows them to acknowledge it, but not let it inhibit them. A possibility. But you can tell when you get hit by bullets without pain, it feels like being punched (without pain). Impact still leaves feeling. I do think that their frames give them their vitals information, anyways (I mean how else does a Tenno stand unflinchingly in a fire? This would explain why Lotus is always saying FIRE IS BAD because they can't feel it [mostly a joke but it has a ring of truth to it]).

Shiniko
If they can't feel pain, that explains why they depend on health bars to keep track of their vitality. :D
PookieNumnums
All factions were once humans. Tenno are symbiotic hosts for technocyte virus. We wear suits called warframes confirmed in both lore and dev stream

8bit_Ghost
what about Valkyr? This is where it stands out a bit, but as mentioned earlier, you can still feel what's going on in you. I don't think it would be pleasant to have someone removing your internal organs to look at them no matter how much pain you feel
DJ-7809
This just doesn't smell right. I think their armor helps them to stop the damage, they're not just taking bullets into their body. Wait....if Shields are generated by your suit, then health must be the integrity of the suit itself? Then once your suit has taken too much damage, compromised, then it allows bullets into your body which then kills you. I think we can feel pain, but the warframes act as an improved bulletproof vest-to a certain extent it can stop bullets, but once it's been too compromised, it lets them straight through. PookieNumnums
Tenno are a revolutionary faction. Like zapatistas or w.e. I think that genetic makeup and environment of the vous made it possible for symbiosis. I feel the analgesia was just a necessary element for ds story consistancy but do not believe it is a must.
