Ember Used To, Or Can Still Tank?

Question

So, while looking up the abilities of ember and deciding which to level first (I'm a huge survival and defense nut, so feel free to pitch in on suggestions for which ability to level first.) WHEN I came across an old build with a move called, "Overheat". Is Accelerant the nerfed version of Overheat? or can I still find this somewhere?

Overheat no longer exists.

It was replaced with Accelerant, the reason being that Ember was intended as a caster/damage dealer not a tank.   It is not a "nerfed version" of anything it is a completely new power replacing the old power, it gives extra fire damage to anyone in your group using the fire elemental type.

It does have it's limited uses for teammates, but primarily you use it as a power up to your own damage powers.

I run with an Ember Prime as my main warframe (when not leveling others). I think she's best used as a full-offense frame. I suppose she could be made to tank but it'd be pretty tough considering that she ties for the lowest Warframe armor (might be a bit off there) which is why keeping her alive tends to be one of the tougher parts of Ember (at least for me). If a gunner stomp gets me down then it's all up to praying that I'm not surrounded by enemies and can get out in time or that someone's AoEing them as I try and get up.

Also, yeah, overheat isn't a thing anymore. Got replaced by Accelerant which is sorta-useful.

Accelerant is VERY useful.

Seriously, the damage amplification is off the charts. XD

If you have blind rage on your Ember, don't be afraid to have plain fire on one or two of your weapons regardless of the faction you're facing. The damage goes so high it pays for itself and more.

Ember is my main Warframe too.  Well, she and the stealth classes (Loki/Ash/Banshee).   I love to play with her, soloing for 20-35 min on Ceres Nuovo.  It's quite a challenge.  Not "easy kill" like Nova...

Accelerant is incredible useful.  You need 75% power efficiency, only Intensify (don't use Blind Rage with her) and cast Accelerant all the time.  WoF is great for clearing a room, exterminate low/mid level enemies and keeping DoT while you shooting with your fire weapons/mods (Hellfire and Wildfire).  WoF should be used always with Accelerant (preceded or followed).

She can't tank but is one of the few Warframes can stay alive sorrounded by enemies, killing them (casting accelerant an WoF, and shooting at the same time). Actually she is now a reckless offensive Warframe.  She need to be near the enemies, stunning them all the time, killing with her gun and WoF.

I sorely miss Overheat.

Every Embers player miss.  If she had a damage mitigation skill, today, she would be a top three/five Warframes.

At one point, top damage mitigation was 93 or 97 %?

I don't remember, but something above 90% for sure (with Focus + Blind Rage).  In realistic terms, if we had today something around 40% (affected only by duration mods, like Turbulence) would be enough good.

IMO Fireblast is the downside today, and could be perfectly replaced by something like a nerfed Overheat (40% damage reduction, affected by duration mods).

for non infested maps ember is dead  ;  Accelerate is the murder

Kind of the other way around there, champ. Accelerant makes Ember even more viable against non-infested.

Anyway, she's also my main warframe (besides Valkyr), and does an immense amount of both damage and CC with my current builds:

Pure power:

Speed:

Survivability:

For most of my builds, I can either use speed boost or energy siphon thanks to having just enough mod capacity for either. I switch out Fireball for Fireblast when needed, but thanks to my high power strength, Fireball is extremely powerful and can kill mid-high level enemies in one to two shots. It's also extremely fun to use.

Interesting. I might try this.
