Free Vs Paying

After playing this game for about 2 weeks now, I have gotten to the boss on Venus and have really been faced with what seems inevitable. Spend money for better weapons and warframes or spend an extended amount of time grinding for better mods and limited weapons. This game is unbelievably fun and I could see myself spending $60 easily like any other non-free game. But another question that arises is how far can I really go on $60 or $100 for that matter. The game does not seem to be beatable on purely free account. Therefor would the players with much more time than me please weigh in on their opinions. Also when I do buy another warframe what is the best suggestion along with gun and melee.

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it.

I'm not sure how much plat you can get for $60 on PS4 but on PC you are pretty much set. But only if you buy slots, a few taters and cosmetics of course. I would not advice you to buy weapons or frames, that way you will be spending another 60 bucks next month.

It's a slow road up to that point, but entirely doable.

Platinum is really only useful for slots for frames and weapons. It also gives QoL amenities like wider color options.

Orokin reactors and catalysts are on offer throughout the month to earn in game if you don't want to buy them with plat.

The question regarding how far a player can go on $60 or $100 is really subjective. A thrifty person can go very far on that.

A spendthrift won't.

Unfortunately i cannot speak for the experience in Damage 2.0 as i have not been low level in the new system however that said i havent had the need to spend money on the game, these days with trading i trade for any plat i need which means effectively other people pay DE for me but i never had to buy when levelling up.

I dont know how effective it is now but in the past i too got stuck at jackal, the venus boss, for a while however i farmed money a little bit and bought a strun, strun made quick work of the boss and served me well for much of my future missions. I have however heard shotguns are no longer good in damage 2.0 but Strun almost unmodded was plenty to get me past most the first few planets so give it a try if you havent already.

I never used any potatoes until i had unlocked all the required resource planets but they may be necessary in damage 2.0.

It really depends on how long you want to spend playing before you hit endgame. $60 should be plenty if all you intend to buy are slots and the occasional potato. That much would let you pick out a few plat only cosmetics. If you go higher you can pretty much remove most of the games waiting.

Also that $60 goes a lot further if you wait for a 50/75% off coupon.

Buy slots, and if you're feeling fancy, cosmetics.

If you were on PC, I'd give you some useful mods and a taxi to an area with the mats you need.

I would highly advise not to buy Frames or weapons with real money they are overpriced and you can get them ingame easily (Frmae and weopon slots are the best thing you can invest money in, but they are cheap). Though at the beginning it can be quite hard as you just starting with gaining credits, Mods and Materials, so yes you might need to farm stuff. Did you buy the Braton in the market? (you don't need to build it, but it easy to overlook that sole credit weapon between all those platin ones, I think the Lex is byuable too under secondarys but a little bit expensive with 50 k credits)

Do you play solo or with random groups? Both ways have their advantages, group is easier especially when you play with people that have better equipment. The downside might be, that the kill everthing so fast, that you barely can do anything...

Maybe you could post, what Frame an dweapon you use and what mods you build in? Maybe we can help optimizing them.

the most important thing you will probably spend plat on is on mods. Mods can only be traded with other players after you hit mastery rank 2 (number close to your avatar top left of screen). Mod packs from market are total ripoffs because it's random.

Get Rhino frame parts from Venus boss (and warframe blueprint from market that costs only credits) and build it. Get Braton or Tetra from market. If you need control modules to craft Tetra go in recruiting section of chat and ask to be invited in a T1 mission. Both weapons will carry you a long way.

Discard Braton-MK1 asap, as it is total trash.

Weapon are Warframes do not worth buying with platinum. However their slots are worth it.

Also, the in-game trading system allows you to get platinum. IE: Selling rare mods or prime parts for platinum. I got 150 yesterday just to buy the proto armor.

You could EVERY non cosmetic item in the game without spending money.

You could even technically get the cosmetic items in the market by trading and getting platinum.

However, if you truly enjoy this game, buy some plat. You'll support the devs, and I mean, these are the best developers I've ever come across.

I haven't payed for anything except for cosmestic and slots , i haven't even bought bought mods with plats . It's just the game difficulty is so broken , it makes the game incredibly hard when you first started but the more you play , the easier the game gets . I'm half way to mastery rank 9 and most contents are a walk in the park . When you hit mastery 4 or 5 , you will have most of the things you need and be able to do 90% of the content in the game with ease .

But spending some plats for some good mods like multishot is great to speed up the process ( rank 0 non-exclusive mods are only 20 plats or cheaper )

I don't know if my warframe/weapons are 'endgame' or w/e but I've never bought anything with cash that'd help me beat anything.

I have spent like, twice in this game, and for cosmetics only.

Warframe is Pay2Lazy not Pay2Win (specially with the trading implemented)

I have a lvl 30 excalibur, lvl 11 braton, lvl 7 orthos, and lvl 25 latos. I don't have hardly any mods on my weapons but I have a high lvl vitality, redirection. (My shield is at 540/health 500)

I usually play with one friend but occasionally play with 2 of my other 3 friends that play. When we play as a group we have no issues but when I play with my friend just the two of us, we have some difficulty. He is a Loki not sure what level maybe 20.

Is the Venus boss easy to beat with two? Whats the best missions on venus and mercury to grind. How often does the 50/75% off come up?

Just ask in recruiting chat for a boost to xini or cyath and you will level fast there.

About discounts, they are second tier ( 2 stars ) login rewards now. I got 50 % yesterday.
