Star Map/menu 'music'

Hi. I have been playing this game since closed beta and one thing that always bugged me is the horrible looping sound/wanna be music when you are viewing the Solar System.

You know ,it sounds like looping sound of working machinery or something. To be honest with time it became really annoying to me and now I find it just awful.

So ,my question is: are there any plans to replace/improve the map looping sound with a real music? I think some Ambient/Dark Ambient type of music would be perfect fit for that and would greatly improve the experience. Such music isn't intrusive and can be played for long time without becoming annoying.

Or at least ,is there a way to replace the star map 'music' with our own? And no "play something in the background" won't cut it. It so happens that I like the "in mission" drum music tracks and I want to continue listening to them.

To each their own.

I wish I could FIND the ambience used so I can listen to it while out of game. The hum of that machine, the sorta vocal hum, and that pulsing.... thing whatever that is all together makes for some nice background ambience to browse by.

The problem with this video, though, is he has the music jacked up and the sound turned down so you can hear the vocal-ish hum... but not the sound effects very well (the pulsing, machine like sounds).

So it seems we have been listening to a stock sound all this time. Go figure.

Well ,at least one guy on Reddit dislikes this humming equally as me :P

  • 2 weeks later...

The tone is all off in that one linked above, though...

EDIT: lol. I do believe they also used this in SeaQuest DSV too, lol. I knew I heard that somewhere before.
