Dex Furis, Despair Or Akstilleto?

So im debating what to get as my main secondary.

 

Despair- seen it do some awesome things. I like the look of them, dont have em yet though but the concept behind a space ninja using space kunai appeals to me.

 

Dex Furis- Easy access, and i do like me some akimbo machine pistols. In my experience with other games, free items tend to be lacking but seeing as we don't have the Dex Furis yet on ps4 so i cant say one way or the other.

 

Akstilleto- when i saw these on the wiki i kind of chuckled, all i could think was Akstilleto Boots. I checked out the stats, they seem pretty good and again i do like me some akimbo machine pistols.

 

 

Seeing as how i havent used any of these i was curious on their viability in higher levels?

More like ak magnus, aklex or akvasto. Mostly akvasto. Also stug isn't bad. I have akbronco prime, which is nice, but nowhere as good near brakk.

Despair is a good secondary, but it's hard to acquire.

 

Whilst Akstilleto is pretty decent and easy to get, but need to mod it heavily for it to shine bright like a star.

With proper mod, you can one shot a lvl 50 ancient..

 

But, Marelok is now on par(?) with Brakk..

Although, Marelok is a snipe secondary whilst Brakk is a handcannon (mini shotgun)

Despair, by a long shot. Akstilleto are more accurate, but I believe the Dex Furis are still better off. The main problem with machine pistols (regardless of akimbo) is that they drain enormous amounts of ammunition. As such, you need to stack up the damage and/or include Pistol Ammo Mutation.

 

With that being said, there is a better version of the Despair: Castanas. They have even better ammo efficiency and benefits even more from Multishot, more than the Penta since you can only have 6 Castanas up at any one time. You don't need to compensate for firing speed (you only need to focus on reload speed). Think throwing knives that stick to enemies and deal electric-based explosions (which can be converted into Corrosive, Magnetic, or Radiation).

Brakk has 60k burst ( akbronco prime has that too) and 30k sustained ( no other weapon can rival this one) dps, so its gotta be strong. Akvasto is a good weapon, with balanced stats, is the slash version, akmagnus is impact and aklex is puncture. They are difficult to control but certainly better than shotguns at that. They can reach very high dps, but brakk remains god tier along with stug.

Brakk with 4 forma, 100k+ burst DPS depending on what your fighting. Highest assault rifle burst DPS is about 19k.

Just to note, marelok doesn't have that hlgh of a dps after all, its only good if you make status build, you need pistol pestilience and jolt to make those viable. Since you will reduce your enemies armor and shield most of the time to nothing, and will make those napalms and bombards attack each other, its a good weapon

Of the one mentioned, Despair for grineer (they have surprisingly high damage when leveled up) and AKstilettos for everything else.

 

The Dexfuris is OK, but it's a very short ranged weapon. It can do surprisingly large amounts of damage over a very short period of time, but ammo is a very real issue with it.

 

At  very high levels, the low base damage of the Dex and the stilettos are going to be issues. Despair is better, but everything runs out of steam when you hit around level60 enemies. Obviously, the more formas you put in something, the stronger it gets, but this also depends on availability of some corrupted mods and the event elemental/status mods.

Hows it ironic? because they're both akimbo? Thats not really ironic. I dont like dual wielded Magnums but i like dual wielded machine pistols

 

I would consider an explosive of close similarity to a grenade. But to make it clear i dont like things that explode (bad habit of playing around and killing myself)

 

I just don't like shotguns much, im more of a long range fighter and even though i say that i typically like to shoot someone up close with a bow. odd but fun. I guess the real reason is is that i don't like the feel of shotgun in most games. I did like it bioshock though and Bio Infinite but thats about it. I can try the brakk to see if it suits me but i say its highly unlikely. I used the strun for a but to test out shotguns, not quite hooked on it

We havent finished the research for the phage but i have been interested in it altho ive seen it make a massive cone completely missing all enemies

If you aim down the sights, the "massive cone" becomes a very narrow cone of lasers, enough to hit one single enemy pretty easily, even with Vicious Spread.

I can heartily recommend the Marelok. No idea how well it holds up past lvl45, but up until then it gets the job done very nicely without consuming a ton of ammo and that's with only half a Hornet Strike.

 

If you want the best of the best then I think Brakk is the only way to go, with Stug a tier below Brakk (not sure though).

If you like sniping from medium-long ranges then I'd recommend the marelok over the 3 you listed. I haven't used the brakk yet but the marelok is literally the revolver version of the brakk (better at medium-long range).

 

Dex furious uses too much ammo for its low damage per shot.

Akstilletto is pretty well rounded, average damage, good accuracy, decent crit, good reload speed.

Despair is basically a slightly better kunai but very hard to farm.

 

I've used all 3 but I just gotta say, marelok. That is all.

... My two cents: If you can get your hands on it, the Despair come with 2 "V" polarities. Perfect for barrel diffusion and hornet strike. Not sure how far along into the game you are.

If you have these two mods and manage to get the uber troll known as stalker to drop the despair you can deal pretty sweet damage without having to put to much work into them.

I have the stilettos, took them to 30 and never looked back. I forma'ed the eff out of my Twin Gremlins before the akstilletos even came out I and really like them. Although I see complaints because they aren't hitscan.

Bottom line - use what you like. If what you like, you can't get, ergo despair/dex furis(yet)... Use what you can get, but don't go potato & forma crazy until you've tried the different weapons. That is unless you have deep pockets.

Also, after thoroughly thinking this threw it just dawned on me that the kunai & despair are very similar stat wise, and polarity mark wize. If you are curious, craft the kunai and see if you like the mechanics. It's also not hitscan. If you can lead a target you'll be fine though. Screw it, make it because mastery & badass.

Half the dps, non versatile radiation dmg and bullet travel time. However it doesnt have damage falloff, which doesnt make up f or lost power but is still nice

To the Op:

 

I have and use the Wraith Twin Vipers, Vastos, Akvasto, Detron, Kunai, Seer.   Seer was too slow firing for me.  Twin Vipers, while great for taking things down, run out of ammo quick, no matter how much you try to tap fire the guns ( you'll have the same issue with Akstilleto and Dex Furis).  But since we'll get the Dex Furis for free and potatoed, try them out to see if you like using them.  

 

I love the Detron (shot gun pistol) but that is hard to get from Harvester.   My advise is trying the Akvasto or AkMagnus.  I like the Akvasto,  It fires quick, reloads quick, is accurate for headshots across all the Void rooms and with Ice Storm, carries 17 rounds, using between 1 to 3 shots to take out enemies and ammo efficient like the Detron.  I run without pistol munition on the gun which is definitely need for the Twin Vipers.   It is my go to secondary.

 

Kunai is a good weapon to use if you want a silent secondary.  Comes with two V slots so less to forma.
