Nayners
So basically we have got two halls connected by an elevator (#1), so we did build another one (#2) so they keep getting connected in order to destroy the elevator #1. And well, seems we can't, it says the elevator has child components and thus can't be destroyed, which I think should not happen since both floors are still kept in contact by #2. And well, rooms marked as child components are pretty much every room as seen on below screenshot.
Admiral_Nicksalot
I have this same problem too for like future extra space and all.. it'd be nice if DE could fix this so we can actually have more SPACE to build stuff.

Gwenael
Same problem here : So basically we have got two halls connected by an elevator (#1), so we did build another one (#2) so they keep getting connected in order to destroy the elevator #1. And well, seems we can't, it says the elevator has child components and thus can't be destroyed, which I think should not happen since both floors are still kept in contact by #2. And well, rooms marked as child components are pretty much every room mainly all of our reactors ... Even the ones I built after that ...So I tried to destroy the second hall, destroying the #2 elevator first. But now, this hall has the same "child rooms" as the #1 elevator ... Rooms that are one floor below ...Edit : Well, the second hall was the spawn room. So I couldn't destroy it. Changing the spawn made the destruction of the elevator possible.
