(PSN)cyborg-bunny
i really want to know why the cool physx particles are not in the ps4 version of warframe its been messing with me i can't see a reason why not!! its been confirmed that nvidia fully supports physx here is the article for that:http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/03/07/nvidia-announces-physx-support-for-playstation-4 ! it was a big story before the ps4 release and everyone was really excited and what not but the fact that its not present in ps4s version of warframe is quite dissepointing...and i just want to know why they didnt include it! please share any information you know about the subject! thank you!! ^^ still love this game though its been my obsession since i started like 10 days ago :D
JohnProdman
You can't have PhysX on PS4 because it uses AMD and not Nvidia. You don't get CUDA on AMD. It literally cannot run on anything other than an Nvidia card. Edited April 2, 2014 by Dominus_Tenno
Stormandreas
I don't know if PS4 actually supports DirectX11 (which is required). Failing that, the PS4 is just to weak (and yes, it is weak)
immolator1001
Ya they released a different type of physx for ps4 (it says in your article), not the one of pc. On pc its driven by and nvidia graphics card which I don't believe the ps4 has.
Ruby_Rose_
If I had to make a guess based on what I know about consoles... I'd say hardware limitations. It's either that OR they simply haven't coded it for the PS4 quite yet.
(PSN)RocketPunch1221
i can't see a reason why not!! I take it you've never played a Void mission in 5 fps WITHOUT the particles....... Edited April 2, 2014 by (PS4)RocketPunch1221
CryoClaw
because consoles cant handle it .... no, seriously.
Ruby_Rose_
because consoles cant handle it .... no, seriously. Pretty much true. Consoles are about the equivalent of a Linux-based PC of the same price. Nothing compared to a Custom PC. But Physx Is pretty minor. The PS4 should be able to handle it. It's just they have to code it for a special version of Physx for it to work.
Barbetti
It's not that the PS4 can't handle it. It's that the PS4 has an AMD card, not Nvidia. It still has "PhysX Lite", however.
(PSN)Crackle2012
pfft... Infamous 2nd son runs above 30 fps all the time and it's graphics are insane... it can most definitely handle it-- whether it is optimized right for it? I don't know with it being AMD-- The game was built around Nvidia. It COULD handle it for sure. Also, with each update they have added more and more particle effects to the ps4 if you haven't noticed. Before U11 it looked way worse than it does now-- you can even see the dust floating in the air and stuff now. But yes a custom PC will always outweigh a Console. I play Ps4 because I like Sony's Exclusive games- and I happened to find out about warframe through their store on ps4 launch day-- Now I play on both, like 20 hours on PC and over 300 on Ps4 lol. It will keep getting better on the Ps4-- watch.. The console is in its infancy and so is this game on that console! I've been wanting the Physx particles badly as well-- I think we will have something similar before long.

stpwncold
pfft... Infamous 2nd son runs above 30 fps all the time and it's graphics are insane... Actually, Second Son runs at 60fps most of the time and has tons of particle effects. Warframe is indeed in need of some major optimization for PS4. The particle effects are one of the coolest things about this game and I feel badly that PS4 players aren't seeing how gorgeous this game actually is. I wish that DE would stop focusing on content for a moment and put every bit of time and dime into optimizing it. Also, to those replying, the AMD chip in the PS4 can most definitely run and handle PhysX.
Sunder
That feel when you have an AMD card and will never get to see the pretty particles because DE favors Nvidia.
Mythblaze
PhysX, originally created by Ageia is mainly for extra particle/collision/water effect and was designed as a stand alone card(PPU). Both ATI and Nvidia ridiculed this company saying these effects would not make enough difference in games and actually lowered FPS of a game(it still does to some extent). Years later....Nvidia buys the Ageia and integrates the technology into its Cuda platform. They still have drivers for the owners of the PPU cards. This makes the chance of seeing this used on ATI cards nearly impossible. Mostly for competition reasons(it is a selling point just like eyefinity was for AMD). That said, some users have run it on AMD cards as a test(nothing came of it). Other users had used lower end Nvidia cards to run the PhysX effects and more powerful ATI cards to run the graphics. Nvidia later put an end to this by disabling ALL hardware PhysX when other cards are installed. Hacked drivers bring this back, but are not always a stable idea. So no PhysX on your card, but DX11 is there and you should still get a good gaming experience. There will still be a software(cpu based) PhysX running, but you will have less fancy eye candy. It's not that DE favours Nvidia, it's that Nvidia cards are the only ones that can run Physx. No other cards can produce the Physx effects properly, simple as that. direcyphre
The current PhysX particle effects are all pretty hardware-bound unfortunately. While PS4 is capable, it's only capable in a system that Warframe was not built in. The DE PS4 team would have to adapt it into the PS4 itself as it doesn't use the standard hardware we are all using to see PhysX particles. Probably not a priority either with the massive update that 13 will be.

No other cards can produce the Physx effects properly, simple as that. AMD has their own particle effects system however. Thing is it's not utilized. Wish DE would get one that =[ I want my game to look pretty... Also as much as I like the simplicity of Nvidia and used to love their cards? That move they did where they DISABLE Phsx if any other card is detected in the system is completely ridiculous and feels like it was done out of spite for consumers who not only wanted their AMD cards but wanted Physx and supported Nvidia by purchasing a card solely for that purpose. To which I'm glad people have hacked the drivers. I have an old GTX460 (Use a 7950 3GB now) and would love to utilize it for PhysX but noooo... Damn Nvidia and their greedy milk.. Mythblaze
I have a feeling that AMD is going to left in the dust when NVIDIA releases the Maxwell line up. The 750 Ti is extreamly good value for the performance. Can't wait to see the high end hardware.

I've been using team red since ever, but unless AMD comes up with some nice efficient GPU I'm hopping to team red on my next computer upgrade. My current HD 7850 has 130W TDP and all the current high end cards top off at around 300W.. which is why I'm looking forward to Maxwell.
