Stay Too Long In A Tile, The Ai Forgets You Are There. Ai Has The Brains Of A Grape.

I have stayed for some time in a tile, and after a while I have noticed two preponderant behaviours in AI: 

 

1) AI stays put and stops moving/responding until one of them is shot/killed. I can just run around sliding and jumping, they just ignore the player.

 

2) AI just walks around languidly as if I am not there, I have to bump/shoot one of them to be noticed. I can stand still and they will just walk around me. If I take no aggressive action, I'm BFF with the enemies. 

 

3) Sometimes the AI pathing just does not know what to do, and it starts walking around in circles. 

 

4) AI just does not know who to shoot. It spends two or three shots in one warframe, then switches to another, then goes back to the first, then... you get it. 

 

 

What is being done to improve the AI?

Thanks for your report, do you remember which node or mission type this occurred in?  Approximately how long did you stay in one spot before the AI became unresponsive?

I spend enormous amounts of time in one tile, upwards of half an hour in some cases.

 

1) Never experienced this. They stop and stand in place fairly often as part of the non-alerted routine, but they still move again after a couple seconds, or upon seeing the player.

 

2) Also never experienced this.

 

3) This sounds like bad pathing maps in the specific tiles. I have seen cases of this somewhat frequently.

 

4) This is pretty common in videogame AI. It can look funny in some cases, but it is better than ignoring the existence of more than one target.

I have experienced unresponsive AI while playing MD with Excaliur and stay in one spot without moving but shoting and radial blinding, after ~1 minute they'll stop moving but as soon as I move in any direction they get back to normal.

 

There have been survials (solo) in where I don't leave a tile for ~20 minutes and have not experienced this.

Have seen the same issue especially when melee attackers, they just forget your there and go into a neutral state until you move again or shoot.

 

Also noticed if I'm playing solo and go onto a container to shoot at mobs; that the spawns tend to really thin out badly causing an early departure of the survival due to no life support mini packs.

Happens all the time in the void.   This tile is ESPECIALLY prone to the AI going comatose during long battles.

One thing I've noticed is that when I'm spamming Radial Disarm, enemies will often stop responding to players (until hit by them) and just stand there making aggressive postures with their pointy stick. I'm not sure if it's when an enemy is hit with multiple RDs, and whether or not it only occurs in missions where the Loki spamming RD isn't hosting, but I do know that RD has something to do with it. Haven't played as Loki in a couple of weeks though, so I don't know if it's fixed by now. At any rate, AI needs to be the next big overhaul.

Sounds like you were going solo. There is a guide on Grineer MD tiles which says, that AI shuts down if you are solo and didn't move for a minute, because it assumes, that you are afk. Same probably goes for

Yes, relying solely on movement for afk-detection might not be the best idea, but it's something. Maybe they should point this out more clearly, but then there will be people complaining about "leechers" joining and doing random stuff instead of just standing around, to trick afk-detection.

I have experienced spawn "stop" and I do exploit it on T3 mobile defence solo. I'll stand on top of the pod and wipe out the enemies still in the room without using the movement keys w,a,s,d. The spawns stop arfter about 40 seconds on the count down. Arfter you get off the pod the room will fill with enemy spawns.

 This happens also if Loki is hosting.
