Negative criticism that is still constructive in nature and does not resort to name-calling is okay. Negative criticism that is little more than dev-bashing is pretty much never allowed on any forum for any game and is almost always deleted.

Stop acting so surprised.

Ive yet to see DE delete constructive criticism that wasnt worded like a 5yr old who just learned to swear.

My threads and replies got deleted concerning the Prime Trading and Legendary core ****up.

Can't recall the exact replies anymore, but they were constructive.

A lot of times it is calling out problems.

Some deletes feel like censorship.

It doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, you know - negative criticism still makes the devs look bad, so they'll still delete it.

Posts that weren't straight up dev-bashing all got merged into the megathread.

Cut down on the bile a bit and maybe your post will make it next time.

If they can't withstand the bile, they shouldn't be on the internet.  Simple as that.  Also, my post wasn't straight up dev-bashing.  It was still deleted and it was not merged.

It's also got a lot to do with keep the forums clear so other people's posts can be seen. If a post is just "DE SUXORZ!!! YOU #*($%%@ UP DE!!!! YOU #*($%%@UP!!! MY WAY IS BETTER!" then it stands to reason that they should be deleted to make way for the post that reads: "DE, you made am mistake, here's how and what I think should have been done instead..."

I don't know your full story, though, so I can't say with absolute security this is the case, but I've got a hunch that (at least for others) this IS what is being done - as well as the merges and deletes of repeat posts created AFTER those merges.

Do you know why it's rare for devs for other game companies to ever post on their own forums?

The sheer toxicity of the community.

My post was stating how DE screwed the pooch by not putting the counter down at the start so that this never would have happened in the first place.

To paraphrase a great man, "(DE) are big boys now.  They don't need defending.  Small-time internet curmudgeons like me are not going to reduce anyone who works there to tears - and they care even less about you."

Meaning? You know, it's ENTIRELY possible that this problem arose at the last moment, like they said: they didn't plan on the counter.

To paraphrase a great man, "(DE) is a big boy now, he doesn't need defending. Small-time curmudgeons like me are not going to reduce anyone who works there to tears, and they care even less about you."

The fact that it's a company doesn't justify baseless name-calling and bashing, and neither does "it's the internet and if they can't take it they need to leave".

This is not 4chan, please stop acting like it.

While these forums do exist on the internet, "It's the internet" is not a valid excuse when violating the Community Rules and Guidelines. Basically if you can't cut profanity, disrespectful words, phrases or mannerisms out of your post, then it isn't constructive.

The best feedback is feedback given with in a clear and concise manner without vitriol. Bringing anger into the feedback will only result in an overly aggressive and potentially disrespectful way of writing, which is not conducive towards getting things changed.
