Tenno brothers & sisters- it has become clear to me that there is a lot of fog around the connections between Dark Sector and Warframe, as well as several other topics which will be addressed.

First off, I'd like to say I may be a little bit biased. I loved Dark Sector from the moment I bought it. That aside, Hayden Tenno was not the first Tenno. If you listen in Livestream #10, DE states that he was the first Warframe. They were hesitant at this statement, and I believe I understand why. Yes, he WAS the first Warframe, but not as we know it.

To fully understand, we must read Ember's lore. We all probably understand by now that the Tenno are children (and possibly adults) that were sent into the Void in masses WITHOUT suits. They were exposed to some sort of radiation (for lack of a better term) which affected their bodies much like the Technocyte plague affected Hayden.

The comes the Warframe. Upon return from the Void, I believe that the Orokin built suits around the children. These are the Warframes. Their purpose is to focus the powers into more controllable abilities. Note that in Ember's lore, it states that Kaleen's face was scorched off. This leads me to think that the child had no control over her powers. The Warframe takes care of that - refining these powers until we become more like superhumans, AKA Tenno.

This also answers another question, that being whether or not the Tenno have gender. I stand firmly in the fact that the Tenno do have gender - because the children exposed to the Void clearly had gender. The codex states that Kaleen was scorched by a girl.

This all being said, I think we can conclude that while Hayden Tenno had powers very similar to the Orokin Warframes, he does not indeed count as a Tenno, because he was not exposed to the Void in any way or form.

One contradiction, however, is that Hayden Tenno had Tenno-like powers without exposure to the Void; rather it was part of his infection. Perhaps the Void accelerates these symptoms, and that is why certain children were chosen. Maybe their bodies were more tolerant towards the Technocyte plague.

This is all speculation, and I'm interested to hear what other ideas the community has. To be honest, I'm not even sure DE knows how to connect the games, even though they confirmed they were in the same universe.
