The Origin System Explorer: A Guide To Warframe's Secret Rooms

Question

Hello all, first time making a guide for Warframe, though not really sure if this section of the forum is the correct place to post this. Anyhow...

The usual way for many Tenno (aka we, the Warframe player) to do missions is to clear enemies fast and get to the extract faster in the most efficient ways possible. While a Tenno's mission is to sow chaos, destruction and murder to their enemies in the quickest ways possible, rushing through a level tends to make players miss the fact that there are map tiles in Warframe with secret rooms that hold loot. Many of these rooms are out of the way of the objective, and many have non-obvious paths to them. Combined with the fact that most of the time these rooms only hold common loot like credits and orbs, and most players don't feel the need to seek them out even if they do know about them.

For those of you who are curious though as to where such rooms are located, I'm making this guide to show players the nooks and crannies that they may miss during normal gameplay, and how to get to them without the need for mobility aids like Super Jump or Wormhole (this guide assumes you know the basic movement techniques). I'll try to update this guide as often as possible as I discover more rooms.

[56k Warning: Posts in this thread have extensive amount of large images]

Exploration #1: Infested Corpus Ship Extermination

Infestations aboard Corpus Ships are normally comprised of the normal Corpus Ship tileset filled with messy, gooey infested bits. There is a particular tile however that is unique to Infested Extermination missions aboard Corpus Ships. That would be this portal room:

20zv0oy.jpg

Technically a Corpus shuttle hangar, this particular location sees you fighting Infested with your temporary Corpus allies before you proceed into the massive shimmering portal at the end. Most players simply exterminate any Infested and move on to the portal, but this tile has two secret rooms that you can access. We'll get to the first one:

2ry3hj4.jpg

Looking to your left you'll see a row of windows overlooking the main hangar. Accessing that room is easy: just climb that third Corpus shuttle from the portal.

263fymf.jpg

w8p0u1.jpg

This particular room has the usual lockers and containers, and has two small loot rooms at the ends that are randomly open or locked during the mission.

qx6muq.jpg

160wr4p.jpg

The second room is visible as another row of windows to the right of the portal, directly opposite the first secret room. However, the entrance to it is less obvious.

hthao4.jpg

To get to that room, find the second Corpus shuttle from the portal underneath said room:

107ozzt.jpg

Then go behind that shuttle. You'll come across an open ventilation shaft that had its fan removed:

2uelchh.jpg

Jump inside, you'll see a vertical shaft going up. Just wallclimb up to the top. There'll be a broken grate you'll need to destroy in order to proceed, though my Excalibur already broke it in this image, sorry bout' that.

de8rqs.jpg

2ltn6rk.jpg

As with the first room, you'll find lockers, containers, and loot rooms at each end that can either be opened or locked. This particular room seems to drop lots of health and energy orbs from the lockers and containers.

With that, we've cleared the first part of the portal room. Now we cross over to the other side of the portal in all its infested glory:

51d0l1.jpg

You can already see the secret room from the above image, which is the row of windows on the side:

2d8p312.jpg

And the large door with blue lights.

122nlgj.jpg

There is also a smaller blue-lit door leading into said room, which you'll see to the right of this tile's exit hall as you go out:

24q6zwi.jpg

Both blue-lit doors are locked from the outside however, so we'll need to find another way to get into that room. To get there, look for the heavily-infested Corpus shuttle by the end of the hangar. You'll notice a vent above it, which is our destination as encircled below:

ehyah4.jpg

Just climb up the shuttle till you reach the vent. Getting up that vent is as easy as wallclimbing it, no jumping required.

2hf0z2v.jpg

sp7rsj.jpg

Getting up, you'll find yourself in a rather spacious terrace. Across it to your left you'll see a row of ventilation shaft openings:

qragbl.jpg

You'll need to find the 4th ventilation shaft from your position. The shaft you need will be the only one with a broken grate.

14ki6bc.jpg

Do a running jump to get across.

6zbhj6.jpg

Break the grate, then go down the vertical shaft leading into the room below.

2i9po9g.jpg

This room has the standard loot containers and lockers. To get out, you can go to the larger exit as shown below, which will lead you to the large blue-lit door we saw earlier that'll automatically unlock from the inside:

rhrind.jpg

34yw65e.jpg

If you go to the other side of the secret room, you'll come across the smaller exit, which leads into the small blue-lit door leading out of this tile as shown earlier:

dc506t.jpg

That's it for today's edition of the Explorer, will update more in the future as more rooms and pathways are discovered.

Too bad you gain little from exploration besides your own feeling of accomplishment and small amounts of credits or energy.

Not trying to discourage exploration I was an avid explorer of the void for a while... before secret rooms got nerfed.

I know about the secret rooms in the Corpus Hangar too

Too bad they only give satisfaction for the first time you discover it, unlike Void secret rooms and obstacle courses that give you a chance for real ingame rewards (mods)

You know, if they actually made secret rooms like these have a good chance of dropping rare mods, more people would explore the levels more thoroughly.

Since I'm feeling good today, I'm doing another one for now.

Exploration #2: Corpus Ship Part I

As the very first tileset ever released for Warframe, the Corpus Ship tile naturally has less secret rooms and labyrinths than other tilesets. Nonetheless, it still manages to have its own share of secret rooms.

First up, we have this familiar tile, the one with lots of barrels hanging around columns.

x4epzr.jpg

Some people assume that this container is this particular tile's loot room, which is reinforced by the fact that it's very tricky to get to.

1zvya0o.jpg

However, there is another loot room in this tile that's much easier to reach. First step, climb up the control panel.

11abm8j.jpg

Then up to the container cover:

5nroyd.jpg

Finally, up the ledge above it.

2d2gl6f.jpg

Turn around, and ta-dah!

nx6n9u.jpg

There's our loot room. Said room has 8 lockers max, and perhaps some containers.

2621xdz.jpg

The next secret room can be found in this three-level chasm:

537fwy.jpg

To find this tile's secret room, go down to the lone bridge on the lowest level. At each bridgehead are terraces that have an assortment of barrels and crates. You need to find the corner that has both barrels and a crate covering it, as shown here:

2u463c9.jpg

Doesn't look like much from this angle does it?

2ni9o9e.jpg

But look closer, and you'll find...

dfkpw1.jpg

A secret passage! just get inside, U-turn a bit, and there's our secret loot room!

zn0v9f.jpg

We'll uncover more Corpus secrets tomorrow!

Exploration #3: Corpus Ship Part II: Invasion

This time we cover two more secret rooms, this time involving the Corpus Ship during invasions. Technically the second one is also shared with the Grineer Galleon, but since I started on a Corpus Ship, well...

Our first secret room appears by the room with a hologram of the invasion, which is the last Corpus room before you go out onto the asteroid. Obviously, this particular room only appears on Corpus Ship invasions that use an asteroid as a bridge between it and the Grineer Galleon.

x76DrAF.jpg

To find the secret room, turn left by the hologram table (if you're coming in from the Grineer side, go right). Then proceed until you find the last row of lockers and hanging Corpus suits.

6E9ns9h.jpg

Go to the locked door as seen above, then look left. You'll find the entrance to the room as a vent with a broken grate.

fMfNpUq.jpg

Get inside, then wallclimb to the top, and there's our hidden room.

pXsfKvv.jpg

r4CKgCV.jpg

Note that this particular hidden room appears to be bugged, as there will be times when the broken grate is actually backed by an unbreakable grate, preventing entry as seen below:

The second secret room appears on the mining asteroid itself that connects the Corpus Ship to the Grineer Galleon, basically the breakthrough point that'll decide this battle's fate:

zx1Ga6V.jpg

The most obvious route past this asteroid is through this energy barrier in a tunnel, which you'll need to deactivate by hacking a nearby control console.

nWrAVBP.jpg

There is another, lesser known route however that not only connects both sides of the asteroid, but also leads to a secret room. We'll start on how to get there from the Corpus side.

First, we need to stand on this jutting precipice directly facing the large silver cylinder.

URDiIDH.jpg

Our target is this ledge here, with the large white marks on its side.

v6fV5X6.jpg

You have two options of how you want to get there. You can either wallrun along the cylinder's face then power jump forward, which is the faster option:

KB6uhnP.jpg

Or you can wallclimb up the cylinder, then jump down unto the ledge, which is the easier, but slightly slower approach.

hZ9Yxqv.jpg

Now we're on the ledge. Further in you'll find a long, narrow chasm, with the right side having vents that periodically spew flames:

AYs6FJY.jpg

You need to wallrun on the left wall to get to the other side. The flames aren't very damaging, but for soft Warframes it may be better to time your run when there aren't any flames about.

hqVTwtj.jpg

Now you're on the Grineer side of the asteroid, without any pesky forcefields to worry about!

mrI693m.jpg

But where's the secret room you ask? Well, there's an opening visible to the right...

N16hla2.jpg

... straight to our secret room!

JMSXTyP.jpg

What about if you're approaching from the Grineer side though? We also have that covered.

FjLVcHk.jpg

To start, climb up this silver wall that you see by the cylinder.

3aIQush.jpg

Unlike with the Corpus side, the Grineer side cylinder doesn't allow you to climb atop it, so you'll have to wallrun around.

8mKt8gY.jpg

kIjNtzS.jpg

Run until you see the alcove with the lone light, then power jump to it.

KACson9.jpg

The entrance to the secret room will be to your left this time, and the flaming chasm will be straight ahead.

Wrie0GA.jpg

Even if you don't care about the secret room, this particular path allows you to bypass the energy barrier completely, and get the jump on whichever side you're fighting by getting into their flanks.

If anyone knows anymore Corpus Ship secret rooms, feel free to share them in this thread!

Later, we'll cover more Corpus secrets, this time on planetary outposts.

Sweeeeeet.

Oh yeah, this reminds me - in Corpus ship invasions, when you start on the ship - usually you'll have to travel down an elevator shaft. If you make your way to the top of the shaft (requires Zephyr or Valkyr), when you get there, you make your way past broken/jammed elevator doors to a bunch of lockers.

Infested invasions?

If they ever pop up again, I'll do a rundown on that one.

Loot detector=OP

I don't even have that mod. =P Don't even use Thief's Wit to hunt down these rooms, just exploration.

So continuing on with hunting Corpus secret rooms:

Exploration #4: Corpus Outpost Part I

Going planetside, Corpus Outposts are the first tileset players see that actually has a nice, blue sky. Well, Technicolor sky sometimes. While Outposts share many tiles with Corpus Ships, they have more large tiles and secret rooms. We'll cover two of them this time.

CaS1lyk.jpg

The first is a very simple one. I'm sure many players have passed through this particular narrow bridge without a second thought, only pausing if there are security cameras in it:

6F3vC46.jpg

Just jump over the rails to find the entrance to the secret room, just by the floor.

xKhvb7c.jpg

uCmdECJ.jpg

To get back out, just face the fallen grate by the entrance and wallclimb out.

QT9twml.jpg

Note that the Corpus Ship version of this particular connecting tile doesn't have the secret room, thus it may lead one to believe that said room doesn't exist when doing Corpus Outposts.

Our second secret room is located in this tile. This would be familiar to many as the second possible site for a control terminal during Mobile Defense missions.

TE2ZFPl.jpg

The secret room is actually plainly visible, with its distinctive terrace and two long, vertical windows framing a door.

mPYFfpO.jpg

It takes some parkour to get up to that terrace, where we can see inside the room. Unfortunately, the terrace door is locked.

mpNqR2y.jpg

There is a second, larger door on the third level of this tile beside the tile's lone  elevator shaft, also locked.

TXNkNzU.jpg

Nothing to see up here, time to call the elevator then.

rguhVsW.jpg

Hold on, there may be something in here... there it is! Looking up, there's a folded-down grate sticking out of a vent shaft.

59qlqm3.jpg

To get up there, you'll need to wallclimb up the elevator shaft, preferably by the back wall. It'll be easier to reach using a double-wallclimb. To perform a double wallclimb, just tap crouch while wallclimbing just as you start to slow down. After a brief pause, your Tenno will climb up as usual. This technique can be used to reach incredibly high places, and make looking for, and reaching hidden rooms easier. Once you get to the top of the elevator shaft, backflip unto the grate.

YXdwixA.jpg

Just break through that grate, and you're in the room, which has lockers and a dead Grineer halfway through being dissected with a Fang.

qLY5YHr.jpg

You can use the control panels by the locked doors to open them.

We'll cover more Corpus Outpost secrets later!

Continuing on with out Corpus Outpost explorations, we have

Exploration #5: Corpus Outpost Part II

I'm sure many players know this particular tile as one of the starting tiles for Corpus Outpost, where you get dropped on top of the building in the middle.

mMYpqHi.jpg

We'll cover two secrets in this place.

Our first one can be located just inside this large circular door, the only one in this tile.

rKtfDSj.jpg

Many times, this particular path leads to yet another tile, or is a dead end.

710jhv1.jpg

Our secret room is betrayed by an opened grate above us, to the terraces.

rvZjVMd.jpg

To get up there, climb up one of the crates underneath the terrace, then jump to the terrace itself. There are lockers in this part, so loot them while you're there as per your Tenno duty.

G0Z7QAI.jpg

Uc6ecVS.jpg

To get up to the secret room, go to the jutting part of the terrace, and face this ribbed column.

Vb7ihNv.jpg

Wallclimb up, then backflip. Get inside the room and claim your just rewards.

This second one is less a "secret" and more like a hard-to-reach and out of the way area. If you're dropped on this particular tile from the start, this secret area is the very first place you see:

yj3J7cX.jpg

2oNJXUX.jpg

Still, many players miss or ignore it because they don't even know that there is a way. We'll show how in this segment.

Our key to getting to that island lies with this tower. We just need to climb it. With all the wallclimbing you need to do to reach the other secrets, you can probably already see the way of getting up the tower in this shot, but we'll do a step by step just in case.

mORgBzt.jpg

First, go underneath the tower and face the column near the tile's rock face. Wallclimb up then backflip, which should land you on the second level of the tower.

BxwdJ0H.jpg

jIk7rwk.jpg

Facing the other side, wallclimb up then backflip on that wall as well.

2rH92yz.jpg

cXlAcrn.jpg

Repeat on the next wall by the other side.

8N0Fpqm.jpg

We're finally at the top, where you can see a zipline pad at the end. Only one thing to do here:

uohdD5r.jpg

"HOT WIRE!"

6UthGy5.jpg

This island has lockers and crates with lockers, as well as a second crate with breakable containers.

1zCjM7P.jpg

QOXMi1D.jpg

To get back to all the death and destruction on the other side, just zipline back on this pad.

cJQZmOm.jpg

Just found a room I missed on the Corpus Ship, so we'll do that one later!

nice could u do a void rooms one?

Eventually. Void missions are such that you already expect them to have secret rooms. In the meantime, I'm doing the tilesets that many don't even know have secret rooms.

Exploration #6: Return to Infested Corpus Ship

I was supposed to do a plain Corpus Ship for this one, but then an Infestation on Venus just popped up, and it so happens to be on a Corpus Ship. Thanks to WhiskeyGolf for pointing me out to this one.

Now most of the time, when you begin an Infested Extermination mission on an Corpus Ship, you start by going down an elevator.

bZNTZBq.jpg

What most people don't know is that said elevator has a secret, just above them.

PVL8x6h.jpg

Yep, a broken elevator door which leads to our secret room. Now WhiskeyGolf suggested having a Valkyr or a Zephyr to reach that particular spot, which is sound advice considering how high up that particular room is, and the elevator doesn't go up there. Hell, I can even suggest using a Nova with Wormhole to get up there, or Loki with his Decoy + Switch Teleport combo. But like I mentioned in my very first post, I'll show how to get to those secret rooms without the use of mobility aids so any warframe can get there, so we'll do just that. We're going to do so using our Excalibur, and while he does have his Super Jump as a mobility aid it won't reach up to where we're going.

For this one, it's really quite simple: just wallclimb up the back wall of the elevator shaft using the double wallclimb method I mentioned in a previous Exploration. To refresh, do a double wallclimb by tapping your crouch button just as your warframe starts to slow down during a wallclimb. Now the important thing to remember is that this technique can be chained indefinitely to get up to incredibly high places, in a climb, tap crouch, climb, tap crouch, climb, tap crouch ad infinitum. So we'll do just that to get up to that room.

iMYOPlm.jpg

After approximately 7 to 10 chain wallclimbs, do a backflip, which if you're right in position you'll end up at the door. If you end up too high though, don't worry: just do a forward crouch slide in midair towards the door when you backflip, using your forward momentum to slide into the door and not end up falling straight to the bottom. This can be tricky though, so some practice may be required.

Loot to your heart's desire Tenno!

nice to see you sharing these spots

if my PC weren't too crappy I would contribute with some spots I found on Grineer Galleon, Grineer Outpost and Grineer Galleon vs Corpus Ship Invasion

also, I suggest using Spoiler tag to decrease the amount of images loading simultaneously when opening this thread
