Vargras
Your friend tried to sell his account, which is against the rules. Even if the sale didn't actually got through, he still broke the terms of agreement, meaning DE can do whatever they want with his account and there's nothing you can do about it. Your friend is going to have to suck it up. Account trading/selling is heavily frowned upon in pretty much every game and will almost always result in a permanent ban. Teasing
It's not strict at all. He tried to sell the account. It doesn't matter if he didn't get paid. He broke the ToS.
tveeggad
So, to put it to perspective, if I stand and point a gun to someone's face, but then say "I never shot", nothing is wrong at all. Makes sense.

Valiant
i really support my friend in this game, and he put lots of time and some(uhh its something) money, he is mastery 14 and he have a lot of good stuff. I think this is very unfair to be banned for that long. Sorry on bad English. Shouldn't have tried to sell his account then. Sorry but I have zero sympathy. Rules are rules and they're quite clear and searching for loopholes is even worse. By the by, he wasn't robbed. NjaII
It is the same rule in almost all if not all MMOs. I don't see the problem here. He tried to sell his account, the ban is justified.

Axterix13
The rules are pretty clear, and it is mentioned in the FAQ as well. It doesn't require selling, even offering is strictly forbidden. However, offering to buy is also not allowed. If the other guy's screen shot and/or chat logs show he agreed to buy the account, he should also have been banned. Zirion_Bk
To all of you who are saying "He got what he deserved for trying to sell his account" look at this: But he never sold his account I dunno about you guys, but this looks like the hacker is good at deceit and crafted a screenshot or something that showed that the victim agreed to sell (Trust me, photoshop is scarily good at stuff like this). Don't jump the gun. Read it all carefully and ignore the slight grammar issues.
Phobose
Rules are the rules, Regardless if this individual had screens shots to prove it, he had hacked this persons account and should be penalized aswell. I've found pixels that werent in the right place in a picture before to later find out it was photo shopped and fake. Ye i must say i was skeptical as to why everyone was taking it as deliberate, the OP apologised his english might not be great and to me it seems more like he was trying to say his friend was falsely accused of selling the account when in fact he did not offer to do any such thing. Its entirely possible that the hacker logged onto both his own account and OP's friend's account and flat out just messaged that too. I would hope DE can cross reference chatlogs with the IP from which they are sent.

Angius
If he was acused of selling his account, but he did nothing, then he should contact the support and explain himself further. We can't do much about it on forums, we are just users/players like you and your friend.

He tried to sell the account. It doesn't matter if he didn't get paid. He broke the ToS. Quotes, quotes, quotes... Most of the rules are stupid. Especially about trading. What if I'm sick of this game and want to receive some profit from all these founders and prime accesses? Luckily it is not my case, but nevertheless. All these terms and EULAs usually just spit in your face, letting you only go with the flow without any ability to actually do something. IMO, quite ironic in our times when every second one is proud with his 'freedom'.
Deristel
The reason is pretty simple. You don't own anything in the game. You have the permission to use it,and to "borrow" platinum and excange them for "borrowed" item from the shop. But everything is still from DE.Selling an account legally,is = to stealing.Your friend went in someone house, robbed it,but got caught with the stuff he stole still in his garage. This is what happened. While i do agree it's a stupid law, that's the rule.Tbh you couldn't even resell console game because your disk is just a "I permit you to play this game, but we own it,so your disk is ours"

Plus for them to know who the supposed hacker is, that he knew the guy's log on info (the sharing of which is also forbidden), and so on... They can probably find that out by checking the IPs connected to the account at the time the deal happened and checking the server side chat logs, as you can be sure DE logs every word said in game. I'm guessing that the "hacking" was that he gave the other person the account info but didn't get the money. Then he tried to restore access to the account via support ticket and the other guy took revenge by sending the chat logs, or they just checked the logs in the process of investigating the "hack" and found evidence of the deal. Plus the other guy likely got punished too, we just won't be told about it. (Unless he makes a thread) Edited April 3, 2014 by Shackram

Axterix13
Note: The OP apologized for bad english. So he might have worded himself badly. Yeah, he might have. But that that exists, that the hacker knew the info necessary to access the account (Warframe isn't exactly a big enough fish to go casting a general net for), and that the post isn't rife with anger about unjust banning, but rather saying that the penalty should be less... It all points to his friend trying to sell his account. Obviously, we can't be 100% certain without access to info we don't have, but from the info we have, that is the most likely scenario.
