Why Must Some Players Cling To You Or Stand In Front Of Shots In Open Areas?

I just tried to play the 48 hour alert as Rhino and was paired up with one other person who was Mag. It seemed like an easy in and out match. I felt good about it.

The problem started when this Mag literally stayed close to me and tried to attack every person I had targeted. They went as far as to stand in front of my frame as I was firing. I don't mind this occasionally, but for all 15 or whatever waves this remained constant.

This person would literally ignore the other side of the map to just stay where I was and kill whatever was near me only to leave to kill the remaining enemies , but made sure to come right back to me to stand right in front of my explosive bow shots every time.

I thought about saying something, but we weren't loosing so I figured I'd ignored it. Well, the final wave came and I was so busy wasting time running towards enemies that would be killed by the Mag seconds before I could line up my shot we lost.

I could maybe understand if I was under performing, but I'm a rank 12 and this was a rank 7. The map is low level for both of us so I can't process what was going through their head besides maybe to compete or show off. I just wanted to get the catalyst and get out. I have a clan so finding people isn't an issue, but didn't think a pug would be a problem. Usually I run into people who know to split up and pick off all sides. 99% of my matches are pleasant.

I couldn't believe how often I'd turn around and see an entire wave filling up the other side of the screen just because Mag literally would turn her back to them and "show me" she could kill 5 guys at once with Pull... I know this looks like one big complaint, but it's more of a preface to a question I have:

Why do people feel the need to stand so close to another frame in such open zones and worry about kills over objectives? I hope this doesn't become an ongoing thing. I rarely post here since I rarely have problems with this game, but this forced me to leave for the day to cool off. Sorry for rant, but I had to vent.

I have trolls that do this to me frequently... I'm a box sitter... I like to get up high so I have clear coverage of the entire map. People see this and think "oh that's clever, he must really want us to win" so they climb up and park their dangling testicles right in front of my face so I can't shoot anything.

I think it largely comes from a severe lack of situational awareness that I too often see in many multiplayer games. A lot of players get "in the zone" of shooting whatever is in front of them, with little to no regard for any teammates that are nearby.

I find myself doing this a lot as I'm running around an objective. I don't stay with someone killing their kills the whole time, but I often will shoot at the enemies they are shooting at as I'm running around on defense or survival. I don't think this is what OP is talking about though. Well, this to the extreme version I guess.

Honestly I would love to be able to toggle on friendly fire but it couldn't be done with strangers.... The risk of trolling would be too high.

you could with a certain frame and with several weapons ;)

I've had people do this to me. I find the best way to get them to stop is to give them a taste of their own medicine except ten fold. Completely drop trying to get kills or defend the objective. Completely focus on doing nothing but standing directly in front of the offenders face so they can't shoot or see anything. As they try and move around you keep running in front of them, do not stop.

Eventually, they will move to the other side of the map to avoid you and you can go back to the other side and resume playing the game with no more interference.

a bit too $&*^ish, try more passive aggressive.

Just walk as far away fromthe pod as possible, and stop doing productive things.

Pull out a scanner, stay invisible

throw down globes and vortexes in odd areas

If you are a trinity, dont bless.

If you are a nova, Prime anytime you have the energy to

If you are an Oberon, attempt to cover the map in fuzzy carpets.

Rolling a Loki? ST to extremely odd areas
