and hopped into the catalyst alert. Didn't remember to change my loadouts (I had excalibur, horrible choice) and throughout the defense match I was teleporting. 3 weeks back and I'm quite sure that Excalibur can't teleport. I apologize if some of you are facepalming so hard right now.

Grineer Commanders can use switch teleport on you.

Perhaps commanders were switch teleporting you around. Was it a grineer thing?

Excal is the best choice for defense. Radial Blind the entire map.

What they said. Grineer Commanders teleport you. Also the old Loki Switch Teleport trick... One might be usin' it on you to troll you.

Excalibur is wonderful. I started with Volt though... still don't regret it.

A well-modded Excalibur can manage that potato alert in the Grineer central core defense tileset (hint: Radial Blind is god tier).

 

As for the random teleporting, that's the dirty work of Grineer Commanders, who spawn quite often in the mission. For the Codex-starved folks, Powerfists are in abundance as well.
