H0PE
Why is this flashy text is good? Does anyone likes this [apart of the nubmers I'm talking about the blue underline effect with the blue shine over the cursor]. Why is this implemented at all? Please look at the video and try the following: -focusing on the crosshair -try to see if the enemy is dead properly -try to count how many still alive when one or two dies [at crosshair] in packs -try to notice the enemy behind fog, text, blasts, flash -try to see enemy behind firewall, shield http://www.twitch.tv/40p3/b/516959237 http://imgur.com/nFJxu8Q I feel like I'm really going blind now in this game, I just can't see enemy properly, all I see is the text flashing on top of the playing area/crosshair. Support says nothing, just to make a post on forum [that I did over and over again since months]. I doubt anything ever will change I'm giving up hope now seriously. And I mean it when I say: I can't see what is under my cursor 90% at the time properly. Edited April 8, 2014 by H0PE
Katotsu
You seem to be over-sensitive. Anyways, the number you're complaining about is the Exp number. Maybe have the option to turn it off? Wouldn't be a bad idea. Edited April 6, 2014 by Katotsu
Soul_Shinobi
This is a very real issue in crowded defense missions. Having an option to turn off UI hit numbers, or an automatic script in the game UI that limits the maximum numbers on screen (or reduces their display time to half when a certain number or above are displayed) would be very helpful. H0PE
You seem to be over-sensitive. Anyways, the number you're complaining about is the Exp number. Maybe have the option to turn it off? Wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm sure you're right. If that blue flash is on screen my eyes can't see behind it, thats my issue, somehow my focus turns "front" of the ui, which is the stupid numbers. From mid to long range this effect totally covers the playing field, I can't target from the numbers, don't tell me otherwise please I won't believe anyone saying "but yes, I can headshot constantly even with the numbers in big crowd". That is untrue. In the current state of the game, enemy is not coming one by one, where the number is not distracting, they come in packs. However that blue animation stick to the screen for two seconds. For one enemy, fine. Two enemies, distracting, more than that, its a mess. I don't want to look at a text animation for more than a second that covers my screen! Please look at the gif I made, its a 1on1 conversion from the video to gif, I didn't modify anything other than size: http://imgur.com/nFJxu8Q Edited April 7, 2014 by H0PE
H0PE
I was not allowed to embed the picture btw, not sure how can others do it but I got error saying something I'm not allowed to embed that in the community. Sorry.
Katotsu
I'm sorry, I came across as condescending when I agree with you. The exp numbers should be optional. Maybe allow us to have an opaque slider for damage numbers as well. Edited April 7, 2014 by Katotsu

Maybe allow us to have an opaque slider for damage numbers as well. Didn't feel like it no problem. But I'm seriously amazed how no one complains about it and feel this issue is a big priority as me. I barely play the game and this is the number one reason. I just can't look at those terrible text animations anymore, it's totally freaking me out. Zap15
Yeah, I really don't like the visibility emphasis on Damage and EXP/Affinity numbers. I find them annoying to look at. And, as you pointed out, it can get out of hand and be disruptive. In similar threads like this, someone made a suggestion of having options to hide damage numbers, crit damage numbers and EXP/affinity numbers individually. That would have been great. And Katotsu's suggestion to have an opacity slider is also a great suggestion. Will take a little more work, but it would be very nice. I doubt anything ever will change I'm giving up hope now seriously. And I mean it when I say: I can't see what is under my cursor 90% at the time properly. I'm on the edge of giving up hope as well. Especially since DevStream #23 (Dorian & Pablo about UI). There was a question by Toe_Ma who asked about damage numbers, and the response from Pablo didn't sound optimistic at all. His tone sounded like he was against the idea, and that it's what makes the RPG style. Rebecca even made a small statement about how she loves seeing big numbers appear after shooting an enemy. Well, Pablo did mention that they might get around to it after the HUD gets more customizable, but it was very vague. All we can do is wait. Suresan
I agree with this topic wholeheartedly. However , while the game receives reskins and such on an almost weekly basis, I really don't expect DE to add something that they won't get money for.
