Katotsu
I wasn't around when the Ether Daggers were still obtainable, but some digging told me they were retired "because of underuse". Looking at the stats, they're just a Slash version of the Fang Prime, minus charge attack. Considering that the charge attack feature is going away, is the reason this weapon is still retired because its now too good? I'd love to be able to get this now. I'd pay for them with platinum. Anyone else? Edited April 4, 2014 by Katotsu

Cruispleuro
They reason it is still retired is because it is assumed that when a weapon retires, it retires permanently. There was a big hubbub on the forum when the retired snipetron was made available via an event with the bp, and I'm sure DE dislikes conflict and rage on the forums over these matters. The ether daggers were severely underused because they were the only daggers that didn't ignore armor prior to Damage 2.0, but now that nothing ignores armor, the Ether Daggers may be a viable melee in comparison to the Fang Prime, although both of the Fangs are still faster. Tali
well they might return later, for now they have been put in the "vault" - where DE store items that can return when the time comes. also check this thread from Letter13: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/186696-suggested-plan-for-reintroducing-retired-andor-event-weapons-wip/

Edit: read the Gorgon and Snipetron entries on that post. That data is so outdated its not even funny. Snipetron retired because its "good against Grineer"? "No idea" why the Gorgon was retired? Please tell me that's not the current official statement on these weapons. Edited April 4, 2014 by Katotsu
SquirmyBurrito
Are the Ether Daggers actually that good? I've had them just sitting in my inventory for a while. Thing is that they DID those changes to the Ether Daggers, they just didn't give a way to obtain them again. Edit: read the Gorgon and Snipetron entries on that post. That data is so outdated its not even funny. Snipetron retired because its "good against Grineer"? "No idea" why the Gorgon was retired? Please tell me that's not the current official statement on these weapons. IIRC the Snipetron was retired because it clashed with lore (a corpus weapon shooting bullets). No idea why the Gorgon was retired beyond it being underpowered and underused at the time.
