Boar Prime Vs Burston Prime Vs Boltor Prime

I have the Boar prime and I find it quite good but it lacks available mods in my opinion and my friend has the Burston Prime and he has a higher dps than me. I wanted to get the Boltor Prime but the BP is way to hard to get so should I keep grinding, keep the boar or get the burston?

In terms of raw DPS with the appropriate mods, Boltor Prime > Boar Prime > Burston Prime.

Close Range - Boar

Mid - Boltor

Far - Burston

 

Also if you like headshots Burston is better for that.

Most people seem to ignore this, but Boar Prime has the single highest DPS in the whole game, the closest competitor being the regular Boar. However, Boar Prime also has low range, poor accuracy, and bad ammo efficiency. Ammo efficiency can be compensated for with Mutation, so if you don't mind engaging in a very close range playstyle, then nothing will serve you better than Boar Prime.

 

On the other hand, Boltor Prime has very, very high DPS, highest out of all rifles, and doesn't have the negatives the Boar Prime has. Travel time can be compensated for by leading, and, that's about it. You won't be able to do very long ranges, but Boltor Prime will be your best bet in the majority of situations.

 

Burston Prime also has high DPS, not as high as Boltor and Boar, of course, but still high up there. It's also very accurate, has good magazine and reload speed, and is just in general easy to use, as long as you don't miss bursts, but even that's not so bad, as the delay between bursts is pretty short.

 

So, you can think about it like this: each weapon possesses a trade off between raw damage and range. Boar Prime has highest damage and shortest range, Burston Prime has longest range and lowest damage, and Boltor Prime is in the middle of the road for both, and so is good for more general situations. Pick depending on your playstyle.

The highest DPS weapon is determined by it's damage per shot and your level of acumen with it.

I detested the Boltor... I could lead with it and still get shots that didn't land where I wanted them.

Bolt weapons have similar limitations to burst weapons in that having to track targets laterally makes for lots of missed shots.

If the target is standing still and is in medium/short range, Boltor wins... Longer range and Burston will.

 

if you liked the Boltor, it's worth the effort of getting it. Likewise if you liked the Burston. Accuracy is improved on both Primes.

 

if you didn't like your hit% with either of those, you might want to try something else.

 

Best to remember that only about a quarter of the scenario is the weapon... The rest is application (modding), target (what you are using it on), and user's ability with the weapon.
