RyanGo
So I was doing the Grineer defense gift of the lotus. I solo'd it because it didn't seem like anyone else was doing the mission at the time. I was using Oberon things were going pretty well. I had locked down one access point with sacred ground and was polishing off other enemies as they came through the 2 other ways when SUDDENLY Half way through the mission my FPS just dropped. I can't remember what i usually get i think it's maybe 30 or something (I have no idea it seems very smooth usually). I had the fps reader on and it read 10.00 fps with 100 ms. It was like a slideshow. This actually isn't the first time this has happened to me, it happened once before on a Grineer mobile defense (i was with 3 other players at the time). One moment everything's fine then the next: permanent 10 fps for the rest of the mission. It barely fluctuates, it spiked suddenly to 14 or something every now and then, but most times it stayed at 10 fps. Realistically i had plenty of health and shields, and energy was plenty (not to mention i was just moving around and letting my carrier shoot them) so I was never really in danger of failing the mission, but it is quite difficult to play with 10 fps. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
BoomyGordo
Ive seen something similar. If a ragdoll gets trapped in a wall or ceiling and starts to spazz out your FPS will drop like an anvil. Even if you don't see it on your screen your computer still trys to render all the spazz which uses a ton of processing power. RyanGo
I'm thinking it might just be my computer actually |: | after the mission i tried a different game and also had crap fps. This can be closed i guess. XD sorry. I will say though it's only happened to me twice and it's only happened in Warframe. but what happened in Warframe did not stay in Warframe. smithf
resurrecting thread. I just got this exact problem (update 13.1.2), so it is not just a performance thing. I can usually above average fps (>120 , though I can't remember for sure) The mission was running smooth, we were on our way to extract, suddenly, stuck at 10 fps. (kinda funny because I on a lot of extra gfx options and finally get to see them clear and slow, motion blur, trails whatever) Managed to crawl to the extraction though it is slow and painful. Summary of problem (with potential unrelated details) 1. I was host of a DS conflict. It was all working fine. 2. A teammate joined. all fine 3. We managed to made it through most of the mission fine and was on the way to extract. 4. not sure if it matters, but i was downed by a laser trap, and was revived. game still fine. 5. when I entered a big room, SUDDENLY everything slows down to 10 fps and caps there (btw, I have vsync off) 6. I could still pretty much do everything around except the display and the response are all slow. 7. I asked teammate to go ahead to extract for countdown while I try to painfully make my way there. 8. Turns out extraction was quite near, so I did finally reached the extraction before countdown was completed. Speculations. Not related to facts above: - from the feel, it is the graphics engine part (which may include physx) that is causing problem. (as opposed to CPU/network limits) - could be physx? But I cannot remember killing anything (let alone ragdoll) during the path to extraction. iirc, there wasn't even enemies. - could it be room? - could it be something in the big room causing problem, that when I entered, it got active and starts to mess up either the graphics rendering or game simulation Edited May 1, 2014 by smithf
