AnemoneMeer
http://imgur.com/CfK9inc What I'm talking about. Personally, I think Warframe would benefit immensly from having a Style meter, ala Devil May Cry. Warframe has a ton of maneuvers, and Melee 2.0 is adding more to melee combat to go with gunplay. A style meter would encourage people to mix up their tactics and skills, without enforcing it in any way. Even something as simple as having a Score at the end of a level is enough to encourage people to replay content, and improve at the game, and would encourage players to hone skills that they will later need for the mastery rank tests. Just to use DMC4 as an example, you get a set amount of points for every attack you land. The meter appears when you land damage, and dissappears if emptied. While the meter is visible, performing various stunts (Taunting, dodging through attacks) builds the meter up, but does not grant points, and repeating them makes them lose their value. Attacking adds less meter, but also gives points. And the meter itself acts as a point multiplier, so every attack you land adds more points. And the points don't really do anything. At best, they increase your EXP gain from clearing a mission, but the main purpose of the meter and the points is bragging rights and making the player feel awesome. You can completely ignore it and lose nothing. It would give meaning to our wallruns and slides in combat outside of enabling specific melee attacks, without adding any sort of burden upon players. tveeggad
S-S-SADISTIC!!! On a side note, they kinda said they wanted it all to be more Warframe than Devil may cry. Sure, I've played the Devil may cry series for like 13 years and I LOVE IT, but I see their point in not making it all too foreign to Warframe. EDIT: ... Aaaaaand they have that similar combo thing in Melee 2.0 already. But nice idea! Edited April 5, 2014 by ConcretePie
RyojinOrion
I knew the second I read the title of the thread that the idea would be based on DMC. They did say they didn't want it to be too similar to DMC, not just in the current livestream, but previous ones as well. This is one of those things that would do nothing more than make it more like DMC.
AnemoneMeer
I can see the point in that, and lets be honest, the air juggles and firearm mechanics of DMC would simply NOT work in Warframe. At all. Ever. Period. Even just looking at the movement mechanics of this hammers it home nicely. That being said, Warframe just doesn't do enough to encourage you to do things like shooting from wallruns, or doing slides for non-slide attack melee. This was the quickest thing I could think of, and could easily be themed entirely around warframe, with bonuses for headshots, stealth kills, executions, multikills, and the like. Effectively, the only thing you'd be taking is getting points for doing things the hard way. It's entire purpose is to encourage people to use their entire arsenal together, instead of sticking to just one thing. EDIT: I'm aware they have combos in melee 2.0, but the game still doesn't really gauge you on how good you are at stringing together complex maneuvers while keeping your gun trained on enemies.
