Make Coptering An Exclusive Combo In A Stance

Someone suggested this in the livestream and personally I think it's a great idea.  I don't mind the mechanic (in fact, I think it's cool and fun), but I don't think you should be able to do it whenever just because.  I feel like you ought to have to give something up in order to gain access to that level of mobility.  Thus, I think it would be a good idea for a lower-damage combo stance to include coptering as one of its combos.

Making coptering a combo would be ok.

But making coptering specific to a certain stance, not so much.

Why can't we have it all? "I feel like" could be considered a valid reason, but coptering is a part of the game that we should be able to use whenever we use a fast melee.

Why can't we have it all?  Because we're already hilariously overpowered and we need some form of tradeoff.  In this case, damage for mobility.

I know my argument isn't terribly strong and is opinion based.  Even so, it is my opinion.

A Stance? That makes no sense.

Stance will be a mod that opens up Combos for your Weapon.

Coptering is a maneuver and have nothing to do with the Stance.

Umm..  Coptering is a melee activity that requires a series of button presses...  It's somewhat a combo already.  Slide-slashing was considered a combo and that's simpler than coptering is.

Yes it requires a series of button presses, so in a way, its is a combo somewhat. Semantics.

But that doesn't qualify it as a actual hit in the upcoming Combo System. The kind of button presses that the Stance mod will unlock is related to attacking with the melee weapon, to chain combo hits.

Coptering don't chain combo hits, its used as a mobility tool. One could argue that Coptering can be used to cause damage, but lets face it, its a manuever more than a attack.

Don't get me wrong, i agree that Coptering should be a mod. But not a Stance.

Brainfart:

To copter somewhat efficiently we have to equip a melee that supports it, and to equip Fury.

These could be considered downsides already.

But I can see the merit in changing the combo required to copter.

I'm not saying it should be a stance all by itself.  I'm saying that it should be the trademark combo from some stance that is less focused on damage.

And I believe that by making it into a combo for a stance that we could at least lift the first of those restrictions.

I think they should just get rid of it. It's a bug that they never fixed and throws of the balancing of warframes speeds. There is a reason slow frames are slow.

Actually, I think they said that they fixed the bug but then deliberately added the functionality back in.

Ok, this could add some more diversity when picking out melee's.

Coptering with Gelatine and GRAM, hmm... I need to think about this.

Well now that you changed the OP and the Title, i can agree with that.

Coptering being a combo unlocked by a Stance, Yes.

Coptering being a Stance, makes no sense.

Sorry about the ambiguous title.  I didn't actually change the OP's content, only he title of the thread to try to be more clear.

Obviously getting to Gala-copter would mean less ability to bifurcate hordes of enemies, but all the same, I think it could be cool and allow a level of customization and choice that wasn't there before.

How about a compromise?

Have coptering on all the stances, but the more damaging stances get a downgraded copter.

That's possible as well.  Perhaps have it be there on some level in most, but then have a mobility focused one that does low damage in exchange for a long-range copter.

I disagree with this idea as of right now. They mentioned that coptering has not been removed. I don't think it needs an entire stance for each weapon...it is primarily a mobility option and is rarely considered viable for damage although it can be...Rebecca mentions that near the time she mentions the coptering mod idea that Scott confirmed is not happening.
