GratuitousLurking
Devs have mentioned that they wanted to make Hysteria's claw attack different to match the new mechanics of Melee 2.0 shortly after it came out. This here is just a small little list of ideas relating to some ideas for some combos, the biggest suggestion here I think is the default Charge attack, to deal with one of Valkyr's major weaknesses during Hysteria. The idea of this is to make Hysteria a bit better with crowd control, as well as give options against specific enemies you can't directly melee with your skills during Hysteria's effect. (Good example- Valkyr can't into Lephantis at all in her current state if she bumps into Hysteria, which can lead to almost a minute(!) of inactivity if you accidentally bumped it!) Claws of Anguish - (Tap),(Tap),(Tap),(Tap) Essentially, the current 'spam to win' Valkyr move we all know and love (citation needed). A forward rush of partially-floating combo strikes with Valkyr's new claws. Mantis Strike - (Charge) A charge attack for Valkyr's claws, and a ranged move at that! Valkyr's claws release a burst of energy forward that can rip right through enemies at her current crosshair's positions. If a person is using Glaives or Kestral with Valkyr, Specifically mods will assist with Mantis Strike's distance and bounce chance. Default, it will travel 20m and will bounce 0 times, The projectile travels a tiny bit faster than Kestral defaultly as well, and with the assistance of Whirlwind could be pretty good for weakpoint-based bosses. Cross Slash - (Tap),(Charge),(Tap),(Charge) Cross Slash is a powerful slashing move that causes short-ranged forward strikes, good for cleaving many trash mobs. A primary slash, than a vertical strike downward, followed by swinging her arms outwards (a closerange forward hit), finally swinging her arms together into two strong outward-striking clawmarks that decimate the short area before her. (Alternatively, Ripline lines can be used for this move, with the same effect.) Backbreaker - (Tap), (Tap), (Charge), (Pause), (Charge) A heavy boss killer! After a few strikes, Valkyr gives a upward strike with a force of energy, causing enemies to fly upward, and as they fall down, she leaps up and strikes with her claws to impale her primary target, her other claw smacking down on the back and smashing their spine. Ripper Dance - (Tap), (Tap), (Tap), (Charge), (Tap), (Tap) Another AoE strike area. After several strikes, Valkyr spirals around with her Ripline whip, ripping and striking over and over at enemies and spinning them around in a vortex of anger. Just a few random ideas, naturally up for critique.
Ittia
I really, really like Ripper Dance. Really fits Valkyr's Wrath Style. Sounds like a ton of fun to use too.
Murdos
This is similar to my idea in the other topic, but also carries the issue of having to code out entirely new melee animations, test them and then implement them, rather then simply using the already-shipping moveset for fist weapons, and getting it up to date with more function and elegance. That said, it does have more flavor fitting the character. GratuitousLurking
This is similar to my idea in the other topic, but also carries the issue of having to code out entirely new melee animations, test them and then implement them, rather then simply using the already-shipping moveset for fist weapons, and getting it up to date with more function and elegance. That said, it does have more flavor fitting the character. In all honesty, recording more movesets is a given no matter what happens. As is, each of the three community weapons will have 3 new grips as well. (Tonfa, Sword/Board, Grappling Sword). Adding Valkyr's Claws to the list is a given as well, and is probably one of the major reasons why she was delayed until after the main 2.0 launch. I tried my best to think of what she'd pull off for advanced attacks. Incorporating Ripline strikes was kind of a given, all told. Nice and whiplike for some good area control, especially when you factor in Valkyr really gets a lot of her damage from your weapon mods anyway. EDIT: That and come on, Hysteria is a Ultimate. It needs to be a kickass damage dealer and murder device to make up for the fact that it isn't a one-shot nuke, and also to avoid the boredom of just snoozing and pressing E repeatedly. Murdos
You clearly haven't read my idea then, I'm just going for using pre-existing code and getting a functional fix in the more short-term, rather then pushing it down the line for a 'SUPER AWESOME AMAZINGBALLS' fix.Rule of Cool is nice and all, but from a design standpoint it's inefficient. Your way has lots of 'cool factor' and flavor to it, which is nice and fits well, but it's still entirely new code.Frankly in an ideal world, they use my idea as the basis and stopgap, and then iterate on it into yours in future development cycles.
