Warframe utilizes peer-to-peer game hosting during a mission. This means the the hosts computer essentially becomes a temporary game server. What does this mean specifically? That if the host has crap internet, the game is going to lag badly and make it nearly impossible to play.

If you KNOW that you have bad internet, change your settings so that you only get paired with people in your local region, or take one for the team and just play offline or in a private game with friends who are near you, because otherwise you'll cause what happened to me 3 times in a row and host a game that your internet causes horrible lag for, and end up causing a mission failure. (yes, I know I could just abort, but I dislike having the tiny amount of quits on my profile that I already do)

You have quits in your profile? LOL omg what a scrubbynubcakewith1337sauce. I don't see that issue being resolved, and this game isn't exactly MLG pro so you should just get over the quit % thing.

we don't talk about MLG.

And the quit % irritates me because I like finishing what I start, It's a personal thing really. I prefer failures to quits, but when the failure is because somebody doesn't understand that their internet is horrible I get annoyed.

The game elects the 'best' possible host as it stands, so if the game is lagging it's because no one was a better option for host.

If that's the case then the system it uses to elect that person is based on connectivity prior to in-game strain. I have a friend who has fast internet while just browsing the web, but when he tries to play warframe, he gets horrible lag.

What would be cool is if DE added in a setting to say "Do not select me as Host" in the gameplay options.

Yeah, I'm experiencing the same problem with joining sessions. I have a session ping limit setting to the lowest (that being 100) but I still occasionally join some completely crap hosts, where enemies and players move literally like a slide show.

Warframe does have some kind of host picking thing, but that only seems to work when the entire squad is starting a mission from the lobby screen.

This is why I tell players who complain of lag when I'm the host to lower their ping limit

what i keep seeing here indicates that the game selects hosts/filters ping based on Pre-Game connections which are generally much better and smoother than they are while in a game. If that's the case, DE needs to create a new system for this type of thing.

lol you are on their ping limit.

setting it more lower(in number) means they, or you, will not join.

i have a lot of quits on my file since i want to test out weapons with certain mods. Kinda wish they had a shooting range type of thing in the Dojo so you can test out weapons and mods.

THIS.

ALL OF THIS.

DE MAKE THIS HAPPEN AND I WILL LOVE YOU EVEN MORE.

Knock your ping limit right the way down. Or after a bad round, if you stick with the squad get host to leave, recreate and then reinvite the old host. The last possible option, considering you weren't host and it happened for three round, someone may have been causing your internet to lag?

My ping is all the way down, but like we're starting to believe up above, I think the game filters ping prior to being in game, so you can get connected to somebody that has good internet with no strain, but once they are in the game their ping shoots up.

Every time I'm hosting, people claim the game is running smooth as silk (except on my end, where there's slight FPS loss, but no intolerable.)  Most o fthe time, anyone else, hosts, we're all experiencing warping, lag, etc.  I know I'm not always connecting to a host that is playing from Brazil or China, so it can't always be that their internet is just that bad (4/5?  Come on now...)  My internet connection is good and my PC is something of a powerhouse for Warframe, so I imagine not just connection, but also hardware, plays a vital role, and I know most people don't have gaming PCs...

I'm thinking the coding to determine the best possible host should also take into account player hardware.  If that's some kind of privacy invasion issue, looking into their graphics settings might provide a good hint into whom has the better hardware without looking into their machine's specs.

connectivity shouldn't be affected so drastically by hardware, though.
