SIBEI
Will doing combos with normal attack do more dmg than charge attacks? and whatever happened to charged attacks?
Aka_Miso
you get light heavy and charged attacks i think they said so the combos will most likely be based on heavy and light combos and charged could be like a starting move for one I guess
PsychedelicSnake
1. I personally don't know. 2. Charged attacks still exist.
(PSN)lee-laa
I too am curious about this as i am currently using a charged attack galetine focused build. But i am up for change, and i am starting to think that the game is far to easy with this type of stuff. OtakuTom1992
Think Scott or Steve said in the devstream that charged attacks have been removed for everything but the Glaive and I'm guessing the Kestrel being that their charge attack throws them. I'm pretty sure they demonstrated unleashing combo attack multipliers on a Grineer heavy gunner which took a massive chunk off it's health bar
VKhaun
Everyone in this thread needs to watch the last devstream. So much wrongness. The devs went out of their way to demo the whole system barely more than 24hrs ago. If you're curious, there's no better way to learn about it than to watch it. It never ceases to amaze me how players don't take advantage of that information. There are hardly any other studios who do that.

(PSN)CrazyDeadPerson
charge attacks to my understanding are gone but they were probably recycled into the combo system. and this has left me to ponder what wil happen to charge attack mods
YourFriendlyNoggin
charge attacks to my understanding are gone but they were probably recycled into the combo system. and this has left me to ponder what wil happen to charge attack mods Some will alter other combo parts and others will go to the new channeling system probably.Charge attacks are gone but their purpose was just to do wider and heavier damage which combos will now do. Gone but hardly missing.
Acaelus
So for facts here: Charged attacks are gone, they didn't like the whole hold E to win style of gameplay that things like the galatine gave players so it's been worked into the combo system. A good combo will deal as much if not more damage as a fully modded charged attack. The combo system will only be active if the weapon has a stance mod equipped. Stance mods work the same way as aura's for warframes, they increase the max mod capacity of the weapon and unlock combo's based on which stance you equip. Without a stance mod the weapon does similar basic attacks to what it currently does. These stances will drop the same way as existing mods (so far, might be subject to change, they didn't seem 100% sure of it). Combo's increase in damage based on how many hits you land. If you get 1 combo it deals normal damage. After 5 combo hits you get 1.5X damage. After 20(?) you'll get 2X damage(?), etc etc. You have a maximum of 4 seconds to hit something before your combo meter resets. Due to the new weapon mechanics finishers are also now a lot easier, meaning that you can land those high damage attacks a lot more frequently. You can now also "imbue" a weapon through channelling (left click while weapon equipped), this will allow you to transfer a small amount of warframe power (directly from your energy pool) into your weapon for an attack, which will then deal extra damage. What will happen to the existing charge damage mods? Bets are they will work their way into the channelling system or the combo system. Either: Charge speed > Combo multiplier speed (increases the speed the combo multiplier increases, so 1.5X at 3 hits instead of 5). Or Charge speed > Channelling efficiency (so instead of 5 energy per channel, 3 energy instead). Charge damage > Combo mutiplier increase (Increase the amount the combo multiplier increases at each stage, e.g. 2.0 at 5 hits instead of 1.5), Or Charge damage > Channel damage increase (Increase the amount damage dealt when an enemy is struck by a channelled weapon), That's about all of the information we have here. I've stated already above what I know and what I think. It's not certain yet how the charge damage/speed mods will be changed but they will be changed nonetheless since the only weapons capable of charge attacks after this will be the glaive/kestrel. Archistopheles
Even with all the "facts" we've gathered from various sources, everything is subject to change.
CatScratch
Don't worry, no matter what DE says, we all now melee 2.0 will be catastrophic first few months until they revamp it 2-3 times to please the community and iron out half-baked mechanics. It is a step in right direction but knowing DE they will screw it up majestically on release. Edited April 5, 2014 by CatScratch
