Boar Prime. As far as rifles go, the Braton Prime is still fairly mediocre (and is possibly one of the worst Prime primaries). The Boar Prime, on the other hand, is the highest DPS shotgun in the game and arguably one of the highest DPS weapons, if not the highest.

the phage is higher than the boar and the boar is the 3 highest in dps i do believe

For burst DPS, the Boar Prime is top by a very wide margin. For sustained, yes, the Phage is better.

Who uses a shotgun for sustained DPS, though?

save your potato..

Braton prime too much suffers from bad ammo economy, and the damage is not enough to really make it worth modding with ammo, or using multiple ammo packs in game.

Boar prime is bad and its really not the best "burst dps" people just assume that because some random guy told his mate, who told his mate who posted in it in region chat

on paper at point blank range the Boar prime has around 40k burst with a 15 clip when modded for it.... inside a far larger 42 clip with no range limitations Akbolto has a 38k burst!

Akbronco prime has a 50k+ burst and has no damage falloff, and still maintains reasonable ammo economy and decent dps.

Brakk can push 60k

I can name 10+ other weapons that have more burst that boar prime, while sustaining better dps

and considering the fire rate and clip size on boar your almost using it like a rubbish Paris prime, in melee.

Don't bother with a potato for either weapon

I have 2 forma and a potato on my boar prime. It pretty much out scores the Phage players in T3 survivals.

Mine procs corrosive and fire damage all the time (85% proc chance currently but once I get my hands I the tethra's mods, it should be 100% proc chance or more).

I have around 980+ physical damage, half is impact, 200+ puncture and 100+ slash. Also getting 1,000+ corrosive and 500+ fire damage on it.

Accelerated blast is still godly on the boar prime despite the 'bug fixing'.

Both. They're both very worthwhile weapons and deserve to be maximized.

Of course, they play very differently, so that will probably be the deciding factor.

I've got 5 forma in my Boar Prime and it's a beast, no two ways about it. I've for 4 in my Braton Prime and it's extremely effective as well (and its ammo economy isn't bad; it's arguably the best autofire weapon in this regard). I don't use them on the same 'frames or in the same way, so they each serve a purpose.

Anecdotally, the Boar Prime is good up to about lvl100 enemies, and the Braton Prime runs out of steam around level55.

Not sure if you are min/maxing or not...

Personally, I'd potato both. They will both benefit from it and neither are bad weapons.

I like shotguns more than rifles so I'd potato the Boar P. first.

If you are min/maxing go do whatever one of those "max DPS" sites tells you to.

Braton Prime.

I'm sure it's going to be the minority and is arguably one of the most ordinary prime weapons in terms of performance, but hear me out. The braton is good all the time. A cat and two forma let you fit serration, split chamber, shred, two elements, and a bane mod, all fully ranked. You could also do three elements, if that's your thing, and you can easily go up from there. Shred helps with its slower damage output and ammo efficiency. If you do a bane mod, you can squeeze on a partially ranked reload mod, because why not? Yeah, yeah, this is basic stuff to some, but I'm making a case here. The result is a solid weapon that looks cool. Maybe it's not what you take on your endless missions and won't give anybody a super-optimized dps boner, but it's plenty for just about everything else and has no real weaknesses. Mine, set up that way, currently tears up the Grustrag Three at any range, which is exactly what I want it to do.

If it has to be only one, I'd pick the one you can use the most. It's not good for super high level, the-game-isn't-balanced-for-this runs, but you'd be taking a third option for those anyway.
