That is why I actually bought this card.

you... bought a Video Card because of a shiny picture on the box?

instead of... like, deciding on a model and manufacturer based on extensive research?

.....

That card is unnecessarily powerful though. almost half of its power just.... isn't used. I've got a 460, and I can still do everything the 780 has. Still, it's interesting to see Warframe on the box.

in Warframe, yes. Warframe doesn't use GPU's very well at all.

other games though, not even remotely true.

Yeah ever since Nvidia got Warframe set up with APEX (APEX Turbulence is what makes all those funky particle effects), they've been featured quite a few times by Nvidia - including on a few of those "Updating Graphics Drivers" progress windows

Just 2-way advertising I guess :-)

There's no such thing as too much power.

There are many reasons to run a 780GTX in Warframe, all of which come back to more eyecandy. Multi-monitor, 3D, ultra-high resolutions (anything above 1080p basically)--all of which would make the 780 pretty much a must-have GPU.

So what you're saying is that with the card, you can play 2 Warframes at once? What a deal!

^This.  Though Newegg had some open box 780 ti's for $535 recently :|

Honestly, 770's or 780's are probably the best cards.

Unless you can find a better deal, on most sites, the 770 is the best if you're not looking to drop a ton. $350 bucks for a card that's almost as good as a 780?

The 780 is still probably the best card to get (come on now, titans don't count. You can build a great gaming machine for the price of just ONE titan)

Eh R9 290s and 290x's are slowly dropping back down to msrp.  At MSRP the 290 is prolly the best deal on the market atm.

This.

The new Nvidia Maxwell 750 TI line isn't so bad too. You lose like 10% on performance, but get a way cheaper card, that isn't power hungry and also that don't need a super cooling system to keep it running.

Or you could get a Radeon R7 260x for the same price and get 15% more performance. (though you lose out on PhysX)

Even so, with the price/performance on competing cards, you may as well go with Nvidia.

At $400 (and they have been popping up for around that every now and then) the 290 has much better price/performance than any nvidia card.  I say this as someone has mostly gone team green :|

At $400 the R9 290 is almost as fast as a 780ti.  So wat?

So, Nvidia has better drivers and better features. Plus, PhysX really adds to Warframe.

In most benchmarks, the R9 290 compared to the GTX 780 is a minor percentage. Since the dollar is so close, I'd personally go with the green team.

I'm not gonna tell you which is the better buy for you, just saying from my perspective having used both brands.

the 750Ti is the pinnacle of budget power efficiency. no other card even comes close to it.

a lot of Horsepower, yet uses SO little Electricity.

I just got a shiny new 760 myself.  Coming up from the 250, the difference was amazing.

i've been enjoying my 760 as well. very nice pricepoint, and still pretty efficient.

The 770 is just a higher specced 680, so you might as well just get one of those second hand.

If I could afford it I would get two 780ti windforces. However, my two 670s will have to do for now, even though Warframe throws a hissy fit when using SLI... Have to disable the damn thing.
