The Community : What Is It?

Seeing so many different kinds of threads, posts, and people talk, both in-game and out of game. I have to wonder what the community comes off as to everyone, even people on the outside of it.

If someone were to come looking for a game to play, Warframe, and based the game on everyone's thread/forum posts, how do you think they'd react? Disgusted in people yelling for exclusives? Amazed at people helping others when they generally need help?

Post your thoughts.

People helping each other would seem welcoming but there is a LOT of sarcasm, hate and pessimists that would put a lot of people off......

Communities are usually a collection of 'cliques', if you will. From my experience, we're composed of the following groups:

Players who don't really speak

Regular 'average' players, the vast majority
Really excited players (possible Naruto fans)
Players who believe the devs can do no wrong
Disgruntled vets who stick around to see what happens

Generally, I think the forums are pretty welcoming. It's a pretty nice community.

I believe that Warframe has one of the best game communities out there. Seeing as the devs work to help the community and do lots of community-oriented activities (contests, events, etc), everyone is generally happy with the game. And, seeing as there's no major pvp, we don't have a disgustingly competitive attitude towards each other, which leads to lots of helpful players in missions. One of my favorite things is the Design Council, because we all work together to get things to a general consensus and end up having very interesting conversations in in-game chat.

a seething cauldron of elitism, stupidity, shallow self serving 'Ive got mine devil take the hindmoast' isms and fawning tribalism that rejects any opinion by the most positive and uncritical as unworthy of the sacred devs.

There are exceptions, but not often, or for long.

The Devs distract us from a lack of real clear communication with contests and baubles, with 'town hall' style dev casts where in difficult issues or significant questions are brushed over.

I grant that my own cynicism may not be helping, but at this stage it would take a concerted effort by posters, developers and moderation staff to fix, and I just don't think there is the vision of what to aim for, much less the will to change it.

I'd say just stay away from in-game chat all together, and go to the forums to find valid stuff every now and then, and just go play the game, if I suggested it to others, as a lot of times, I think half the people in chat do just that, just sit in chat, and rant all day, tell people to go jump off a cliff, shut up when a person gives their opinion, its rather immature.

Its better to play anyway in my opinion, and chat through a microphone, like I use to when I first played Warframe a year ago on PC, before I moved, and forgot everything ;(

It's pretty terrible. People in my clan had quit even after I had spent hours helping them farm (along with others in my clan) simply because they found that playing with people outside at random was terrible.

If you're starting out, I STRONGLY urge you to find a clan.

Playing at random with people in this game is terrible otherwise, if not by virtue of terrible disposition, then terrible connection.

From what I can tell, we have three main groups.

1. Happy Players

2. Unhappy Players

3. Players That Screw With Both Happy and Unhappy Players

Don't forget :

4. Players who complain no matter what

5. The know-it-all

6. The people who always have opinion even of things they haven't even tried yet

Best part is even though the jerks/rude/mannerless people play here, they hardly say anything because this game is more focused on PvE instead of PvP

4 and 6 could fit into the Unhappy Players category. No idea what 5 would be.

Category 3. When they're doing their weak "know-it-all" speech/argument they practically fight against the side they're on so they screw with both sides. it's funny watching two know-it-all's fighting against each other because then the argument becomes an arch made of straw.

It used to not have PvP at all.

The game is moving in the direction of PvP and it fails at PvP, so it follows that it will inevitably fail as well.

^prime example of a know-it-all..

Your thread was even locked by the mod, stop trying to force your opinion on others, dude..

You don't even have any evidence to back it up.

The hilarious thing is that the proof is in the pudding: they have done more for PvP than PvE in comparison.

Even the 1 year gift is a PvP weapon.

.....Sigh, forget it..

I don't want to derail this thread so I won't bother responding anymore (to your opinion)

A perfect example of this would be that any weapon in PvP is basically insta-gib if it hits. Its fun because..?
