Populating Levels

Considering how capture mission have shown us what Gineer and Corpus look like without all their gear, wouldn't it be interesting if the levels had unarmored staff populating the levels. They would be there doing their business as technicians and such, and evacuate when an alert is sounded. They will attempt to avoid the Tenno at all cost, while trying to escape, but a malicious Tenno can kill them, or they can die in the cross fire.

Aside from just adding to the ambient life of the levels, causalities could trigger a new assassins that focus on Tenno who kill unarmed faction members, without good cause, i.e. capture targets.

So, a simple idea, easy enough to implement. What do you think?

you know that could actually lend some much needed vermasilitude to the game, with a few interesting tactual consequences.

The penalty for civilian killing would have to be managed carefully, you don't want to punish people who aren't pin point accurate, but you do want to hit those who hunt down every tearful panicking lab assistant.

I've gotta say, this isn't an idea that I've ever even thought about, and is one worth a lot of merit. DE, LOOK AT THIS.

All that said, this is a great idea that I think should be implemented, definite +1 from me :)

I'm all for this. If nothing else, it adds a more interesting dynamic to the levels than just "oh hey. here are the bad guys. shoot them with your guns, yo."

I really do like when games add a civilian factor to them; not only do I have enemies to watch out for, but having the civilians there gives an entirely different atmosphere and sense of realism to the game.

I called them staff, personal would possibly be more accurate. Civilian is too strong, especially seeing as they would run straight for the alarm when they spot a Tenno, and you know that's a death sentence. Rightly so, they are technically combatants, just not a serious threat. They could be largely ignored, especially after an alarmed has been sounded and they evacuate. A malicious Tenno who go out of their way to kill these personal could however get a Death Mark from a new Assassin, and that would be cool. Otherwise, the personal would be their to add ambience and realism to the maps.

I completely agree other than this part. This may seem easy, but it would require a lot more work than people might expect. That being said, I really like the idea.

Yeah the AI and path finding code plus ways combatants and non combatants interact will take some doing.

Also an elegant way to make our tenno feel like bad-asses as on arrival people scatter like roaches under the unexpected splash of a torch beam away from us.
