Strong Primary Weapon?

Not sure if I should potato my Latron Prime or my Soma right now. I really like the Latron Prime but I've been told the Soma is some sort of godsend. Or maybe I should potato my Dread or Paris Prime?

 

What do?

 

 

EDIT: Thanks all, went with the potato on the LP. I've liked that weapon since beta anyway.

Soma is considered the best automatic rifle in the game , after boltor prime.

But latron is a very powerful prime.....

 

Go with your playstyle , go for precision or pure dakakakakaka

I prefer Dread over paris prime because slash damage is good against all faction. Add corrosive or viral for grineer and it works just as well.

The soma is one of the best guns in the game but I'm not a fan of spool up guns, even if it is short, it's just not my style. It starts to get boring after a bit for me. With that said it is still one of the best guns still.

The Latron Prime and the Soma have the same DPS, but the Latron's Burst DPS is significantly higher. People just like the Soma because they are blinded by the crit chance after mods. 

 

The Paris Prime is also really good. Bows have punch through.

well if you cant aim max heavy caliber and latron prime works pretty well.

I would always recommend anything except Soma. However, Latron Prime, Paris Prime, and Dread are all very good weapons, so I'd personally recommend any of them. Latron Prime will do you better for more general situations, though, so that may be what you wanna prioritize.

soma has the best dps but it's not that ammo efficient at high levels and then there's the boltor prime, but i would go ahead and potato the Paris Prime, after some forma it will one hit kill anything

On-topic, potato the Latron Prime. Better weapon.

Both Latron P and Soma are top tier weapons, but if you want to run really long missions, the LP would do better due to its ridiculous ammo efficiency, compared to the poor ammo efficiency of the Soma at higher levels.

Paris Prime or Latron Prime IMO. Base puncture scales better against Grineer and Corpus.

If you really like the Latron Prime, potato it.  You're the one using the weapon and it sounds like it fits your style of weapon, more so than the Soma.  It doesn't matter what others say.   Both are very good weapons.  While I love my Soma, as the last poster noted, I do run into poor ammo efficiency with the Soma at higher levels in T2 and T3 Survival, even with Rifle Ammo Mutation on it.   I would go with my Dread or Paris or Phage as all are very ammo efficient.

Depends what you're more comfortable using. For me I feel the urge to just gun everything down (especially infested). Based on topics I've read, they're both in the list of best rifles

If you can aim pretty good, go with the Latron Prime. If you are more of a spray and pray hah go with your Soma

I'd do the Lat Prime first as others have noted it is ammo efficient and will work even in later content.. so you'll be set.  After that Soma is definitely worth the potato from my perspective since it is more fun to use imo.
