Kickboxing_Banana
I just got my seventh spare reactor from the alert, ''yay''! Would it be a silly idea if we were able to give reactors/catalysts as free gifts to other players? I personally have no need for the reactors if DE suddenly doesn't release 7 new Warframes or Sentinels at once. People could send gifts using the inbox function in the game. Received gifts shouldn't be allowed to be sent forward, because it isn't that polite to the original sender and it could prevent possible exploits. Items which already can be traded cannot be sent as gifts, otherwise people would use the gifting system to bypass the trading taxes. #1stWorldProblems Is it a problem if I want to give stuff to other people? You have no need for the reactors now. Of course, we know more frames and sentinels will be coming, and potatos don't expire, so there's no problem with keeping them, is there? Kickboxing_Banana
#1stWorldProblems Indeed. I was hoping for something more exiting when redtext announced that there is going to be some extra reward from the alert.

I may have 7 now, but how many I could possible have after weeks or months? New Sentinels and Warframes get added so seldom compared to new weapons. DalaiLlama
Is it a problem if I want to give free S#&$ to other people? Is Christmas/Winter Holidays a problem to you as well? It is a problem when attempting to add these items to the trade function; considering that trading platinum through the trading post is a-ok, there would be a supply conflict with the reactors/catalysts otherwise bought through the in-game market as players look to the trading window to purchase potatoes at whatever opportunities may arise. While prices may reach an eventual equilibrium, the very exchange of platinum for reactors/catalysts through trading rather than directly through the in-game market will unnecessarily drain revenue from Digital Extremes in exchange for a simple functionality trick. In theory, it would be nice to be able to supply friends and clan-mates with these sorts of items. However the way platinum can be traded, doesn't look like that should happen the way the system works now. You could propose to have some other means of trade such as a Mail CollectOnDelivery system, but the need for that is currently satisfied with clan trading, not to mention exploits generated such as number of trades per day still need to be worked out with such a new system. DalaiLlama
There would be no need for the trading system. Since we have the inbox in the game, we could simply send private messages with gifts using it. As I said, there would need to be fixes made for that, including a limit on the number of trades available per day. If players are simply giving each other items free of charge, this would be one way to completely bypass clan taxes, another problem in itself. Also, trading directly to the mailbox fixes nothing; people could send an item through the mail and pick up payment for the same item at a trading post. Hypothetical and stupid perhaps, but the hole in the system is still there. The system itself is exploitable; the way trading works now, two different people must be online for a trade to take place; additional barriers like the taxes and trades per day make attempts at theft slightly more difficult. While I'm not saying that such a system is not possible, a one-sided mail system would be open season for potential hackers. Even an accept only policy seems dodgy, as it would not prevent theft attempts entirely. Though that's just the way it plays in my mind.
