Boltor Prime Build Conundrum

Question

Hi all,

Today I finished the final forma in my 3 forma (and maybe 4 but who knows) Boltor Prime build. The thing is, I am not quite sure how to proficiently build it for mainly Void, Grineer and sometimes Corpus. The structure of my forma'ing has resulted in the following set of polarities, 3v   1d   1-... The attack polarities are filled with the generic good stuff, SC HC Serration, cryo rounds in the d and the most expensive elemental in the -. The issue is as follows:

- Grineer survival and defense

---full radiation and cryo rounds

---three radiation and malignant force for the viral

---wildfire and high voltage and full viral

etc

Could someone help me out here, this is an area which I am not very good at deciding, even after the amount of time that I have played this awesome game.

Thanks in advance,

Jack

Void = Corrosive with Cold

I beg to differ.

I've Gone 39 minutes in T2 survival Solo with my Karak, Viral/Radiation and my Orthos Prime with just Corrosive. (Loki)

Void usually corrosive, dunno bout the others, could most likely get away with Viral pretty effectively.

Grineer I usually use radiation and if I have the mod slots slap Viral ontop of it.

Corpus I use strictly magnetic and it works just fine

After that just slap on damage mods I'd guess.

I can't give a "perfect" opinion, yet to get the Boltor Prime but this is how I do all my other weapons.

You could try this build.

The Piercing hit is interchangable with Rifle ammo mutation depending on how long you last, Or you could do What i usually do with my clan and have certain people bring certain Team Restores.

Edit: if you're a good shot you can always put Heavy Calibur aswell.

When I get enough formas into my BP I plan on stacking on tons of elemental damage as well as good status chance.

Serration, Split chamber, Cryo rounds, infected clip, malignant force, hellfire, stormbringer, and finally high voltage.

This build is meant to be geared against mainly Grineer (seeing as it's mostly puncture damage I intend to only use my BP against them and low-mid level corpus/infested). It will end up with a large amount of both viral and radiation damage.

I prefer not to use Speed Trigger to boost dps because i'd rather not have to waste a mod slot with rifle ammo mutation or waste my aura slot using rifle scavenger. I also don't like stopping at all to deploy a bunch of ammo restores. As it stands boltor has enough ammo efficiency to work without either of these if you stay away from Speed Trigger.

So in general, I not having HC in this case is acceptable and will output more damage?

you are loki

regardless the weapon, a loki with a good invis-decoy build can stay forever in survival

My boltor prime build (4 formas)

max serration,max heavy cal,max split chamber,max hammershot,max metal auger,max infected clip,max malignant force,max stormbtinger.

Hammershot can be switched with cyro rounds if you prefer.

The only enemy I wasn't able to kill was a level 81 heavy gunner fire leader in t3 survival around 40 minutes in.

It really depends on your personal preference. If you feel you are a good enough shot to land shots dependably with that decreased accuracy, then i'd search out HC if you really want to max out the build. The difference in dps won't be massive.

I would say with the BP all the way up to a rank 5 HC will have almost no effect on accuracy. Past that, the bullets might skew slightly, but I don't think it'll be enough to really throw you off unless you're trying to hit a target from 50 meters.

For the umpteenth time:

Grineer: build for radiation. Double stack it with the Boltor Prime.

Infested/corrupted: build for corrosion. Double stack for infested, add a cryo in place of something for corrupted (or don't worry about it).

Corpus: use a different primary. If you must use the Boltor Prime, magnetic (if you've still got the D polarity), then cram in all the toxic you can.

If you've forma'd the living whee out of your Boltor Prime, you should most definately use heavy caliber. If you've got the energy, take it to 10. There's really not that much of a downside. Your accuracy with a full HC will be about 21; more than enough for anything you'll do with a projectile weapon.

As a general rule of thumb, using a maxed Heavy Caliber will provide roughly 30% extra damage in comparison using another elemental/bane/hammershot(in applicable crit weapons), provided that the other 7 slots you have are also properly filled out. Whether you care for that extra 30% damage is up to you. It is a hefty amount.

Boltor Prime does not lack when killing corpus/infested since Grineer in the void are already the toughest targets in the game (Edit: Except, of course, bombards/napalms in late defense/survival outside of the void).

My Boltor Prime Build:

Serration (obvious)
Split Chamber (obvious)
Shred (a must have)
Cryo Rounds
Infected Clip
Stormbringer
Malignant Force (Cicero Event Mod)
High Voltage (Tethra Event Mod)

With a 39.2% status chance, it consistently freezes and reduces enemy armor. You can only get the event mods now by trading or transmuting them (which is pure luck so don't believe people when they say, "it took me x tries")

Boltor Prime is about the best rifle in the game.

For Grineer, it is critical that you dont forget the BANE mod.

As the weapon deals mostly innate puncture, which is really effective against Ferrite armor, the innate base, increased by bane, will be your main source of damage against Ferrite Grineer. Then you build Radiation and Cold, just to utilize the D slot. Or with enough forma, pure radiation, which will give you better damage against Alloy armored targets.

IMO, the perfect 4 forma build for Grineer is: http://goo.gl/awllQk

When using 3+ Corrosive Projection auras swap the Tethra mod with +90% toxin.

For a more even spread across armor types, you can swap in the Cicero mod instead of cold damage.

Shed is pretty pointless because the knockback from the bolts gives the bolt weapons a form of innate puncture, although it wont go through walls etc.

Void is easy to build, simply switch elements and drop bane to make +300% Corrosive +90% Cold.
