RedTextPrime
So many of you may have seen my primary loadout is Excalibur/Mag/Loki, Mk1 Braton, Lato and Skana. because of that sometimes its hard to get into T3 void without being ask to leave. totally ignoring the fact that im Mastery Rank 15, have lots of forma, lots of Maxed mods and 700+hrs. Do you think the community will be more openminded to others with starting gear when melee 2.0 comes out? or is it still, "nope we suck so we need a frost, vauban and trinity in our team always" the livestream was impressive, defending with melee seemed to depend on stamina and other frame components. offense does depend on the weapon but can be offset by mods. and if youre going to melee, youre going to need some skill to close the gap between you and the enemy without dying. skana is a decent weapon and we all know mastery + equipment doesnt equal skill and i have seen a Master Rank 0 with less than 48hrs of playtime(not me, 'HyunJi' is a total troll, lol loves) totally owned a rank 11+

BizarreFetalChimpanzee
I don't think that mentality will ever change in the community, even if the weapons get buffs. Edited April 8, 2014 by BizarreFetalChimpanzee
xlraistlx
Nope. People will always think "If he has starter kit he sucks".
Archistopheles
That's exactly the biased that occurs with Power Creep. If we didn't have guns like the Marelok and Boltor Prime being released each patch with higher and higher stats, people wouldn't be shunned for bringing a Braton to a Soma fight. Cemges
Fact: Mystery doesnt mean S#&$ And yes every warframe can be built to be good, but you cant do survival without nekros, for example, there are some rules.
bodyshk
no. most people will still judge you if you go on with a braton/skana/whatever. They cannot see anything related to those weapons, other than the name. They can't see you put formas, or a potato, or that it's maxed at least. They can only see the name and they anticipate your overall efficiency.

WoodHaven
Eh I can see the point your making that gear/mastery doesnt decide if you're a skillful player. Though you need to consider, in World of Warcraft, no one would take you to the endgame highest tier raid, while you're wearing all common gear. You may have that skill but no matter what with that gear you are not a proper asset to the team, Your damage falls off severely compared to everyone elses. Utarious
I believe the guns will be still mocked, but the skana seems like it will actually be rather decent.

LOKIME
I don't really see -or care about- the gear of the people i join in a random mission. but i've noticed that when i used a starter they usually leave the host... especially when i use Loki (Loki Master Race)
SnaleKing
I wouldn't question that a MR15 player is good at the game: but when a team is going for 40min T3 surv, even the most skilled possible excal/mk1/lato/skana is tough to justify bringing along. "Thanks, I'm sure you're amazing, but even a rank 10 Nova would probably do more damage."
WoodHaven
1. This isn't World of Warcraft 2. Power creep is a flaw in this game No its nots WoW, but none the less it is a game. A game where gear matters, and you have to work as a group. If someone is unwilling to properly gear themselves for T3Surv, when the rest of the team wants to go to 1h and they can barely handle 20min. They are no longer any asset to the team whatsoever. Why are you OK with supporting such a system that forces players to upgrade just to play the missions they want to?

T3 survival is the toughest void survival available and the keys are incredibly tedious to obtain. Don't burden teams and waste other peoples keys. It doesn't make you good to be able to use terrible weapons.
KONAir
MK-1 is an exceptionally horrible weapon, Lato won't help much and meleeing is a terrible idea. I would never let a freeloader no matter which rank, in any Void mission.

Archistopheles
... what? I might have not been fully clear: I'm not defending using an Mk-1 and a Lato. I'm talking about using a Braton and a Akbolto (for example) which is still "starter gear."
-Mr.Meeseeks-
It doesn't matter how skilled you are. Even with a 4 forma MK-1 Braton, anyone who can move a mouse could easily out-damage you with a no forma Braton Prime. It wasn't about gear until Prime Access came out. Why are you OK with supporting such a system that forces players to upgrade just to play the missions they want to? Ok fine. take a group of 4 skilled players all of them using Excalibur, MK-1 Braton, Lato, and Skana, and throw them into a T3 survival. See how long they last. spacedkadet
OP, you are assuming skill of the player makes up for the low gear. It does not. At higher levels it does not matter how good you are if your gear is under powered. A mk1 braton with 8 polarised slots and maxed mods still wont deal enough damage to take down a heavy corrupted in any kind of timely fashion. Taking low a$$ gear to a t3 is just not going to cut the mustard no matter how good you are.

Why are you OK with supporting such a system that forces players to upgrade just to play the missions they want to? So what... enemies shouldn't get tougher? Weapons shouldn't get stronger? If you're honestly suggesting that people should be able to go all the way from the very beginning of the game to end game content without ever having to upgrade their equipment then I think you're making a ridiculous point.
