Corpus Asteroid Base

Surely the Corpus have some mining operations, right? And planets can only offer so much - and asteroids have plenty of resources to offer if exploited. All they need to do is set up, why leave them to be operated by Grineer technology?

Not really asking for one, I can live without it, but wondering what other people think about the idea.

Planets are much larger and have more diverse resources then asteroids usually. Maybe the resources the Corpus need are mainly on planets instead of asteroids. That said, why build a new asteroid mining facility if you can just take over Grineer ones, they are already built and functioning.

They find new asteroids that weren't already occupied and set up shop? It's not like there are only a handful in the galaxy that are already occupied.

And you don't just mine ONE area for resources, or even two. If you have a claim to a spot that you can take resources from, you set up shop there as well to make sure you don't run out of raw materials. As the old saying goes "don't put all your eggs in one basket".

I think Grineer anything only barely qualifies as 'functioning.?' I dunno....

As for OP, i would love to see these. Afterall, Corpus outpost, corpus ship, corpus gas city - Grineer outpost, grineer ship, grineer asteroid, and soon grineer shipyard. Might as well go with corpus asteroid or corpus shipyard. After this infested tileset is out,we really need a new corpus one. Something for Neptune.

I think asteroid tileset do seem to be more attractive for the Corpus instead of the Grineer. In accordance to what have the Lotus claims about sabotaging Grineer mining equipment, they should dig resources for "Energy weapons", although the Grineer didn't even had any pure energy weapons, other than Melee weapons (Machete, Cleaver, etc.)

Corpus asteroid bases should really get into the game, but problem is, there is some slight lack of background for what should Corpus mining equipment look like, though I think it is just a minor problem.

If I could take a stab at it:

The Corpus love their animal proxies, their moas, their hyenas, their jackals, so they have one for mining: the worm.

Funny name? Maybe, but an effective mining instrument. A fairly large creation, about the size of the Grineer machines, but sleeker, long; the entirety of the worm is one massive "drill," but it's purpose is dual-fold. Instead of simply mining into the rock, energy beams cut it away, funnel it into the worm's body, and in the body scans are preformed. Determination of the rock's mineral content, how much of what is present this deep, it's all sent back. If there is sufficient amount to warrant excavation, the worm is called back to be unloaded and individual miners are sent in to root it out.

If not, the worm is unloaded and sent either deeper in or to another location to determine the value of the rock and minerals there.

So, appearance-wise: imagine a worm with a concave head and tail, energy senors on the from it of, little 'feet' all along it to help it grip and move into the rock of the asteroid.
