Fragor O Gram

Fragor: Ignores armor, base 50% damage, stun effect, large AOE jump attack, extremely slow.

Gram: Fastest attack speed of the four heavy melees, base 40% damage, doesn't ignore armor, shortest range.

I personally go for Fragor for charge attacks.

I think the Scindo is the best. Get its charge attack as fast as possible and increase the charges damage as much as possible and then do nothing but charge attack. You one-two shot everything really fast and you can cleave through infested because of the bonus.

Gram with Fury and Molten Impact turns any Infestation missions into a Dynasty Warriors: Space Ninjas edition. Bind your second melee key into a mouse scroll and scroll endless to mow them down like grass.

Armor Piercing? All charge attacks pierce armor anyway.

Gram.

Bonus damage against infected. If you use charge attacks only Gram charges faster than Fragor. Downside is a bit shorter in range but still enough to easily slaughter multiple enemies per strike. Gram's animation after charge attack is also faster than Fragor. Fragor is just slow and only better if you want to use normal attacks. Furthurmore Fragor smashes even items on the floor which is kinda fun but irritating.

Gram or Fragor? Scindo.

Since what these heavy weapons are best at is charged attacks and charged attacks always ignore armor, don't bother with the Fragor, it doesn't deal bonus damage against the infested. Gram is only faster with normal attacks, not charged attacks, but it has a slightly shorter reach.

I don't actually own gram but it seems like the actual animation of a charged attack(note: not the charge time itself) is based roughly on normal swing speed(since you can improve scindo's charged attack animation speed by getting fury), making gram potentially finish up the charged attack faster without mods.

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

I just tested again just to be sure.

Test for Scindo and Gram charged attacks. Both weapons un modded.

10 charge attacks for Gram = 17 seconds

10 charge attacks for Scindo = 20 seconds

Edit: It seems that the time required to charge and release an attack are the same. however the charge attack animation of Gram is faster and it allows faster recovery to perform another action.

Therefore both Scindo and Gram are pretty on par. Up to your play style to pick which. Longer range or faster attacks.

So with gram I will deal damage sooner after I start holding the melee button, but it won't take less time to perform the next charged attack?

Kinda cool, I guess it can help you avoiding stuns or knock backs on your first swing.

Lets just say for Gram, the time for charging up, doing the attack and then finally able to a new action is 1.7s. Scindo is 2s.

Edit:

Testing results for Gram. I put a 50% charge speed and 50% attack speed mod. 10 cycles is around 12s.

With only 50% charge speed, 10 cycles is around 15s.
