Directx Failed To Update!

I've been playing Warframe for about 7 months without this problem, but my friend tried to play Warframe for the first time today and it downloaded fine, but when he got into the log-in window and Warframe attempted to update, he gets a prompt stating "Directx failed to update". Does anybody know how to fix this?

He can try going into the launcher settings (gear icon at the top right) and unchecking DX10/11 (forgot which it lists it as).

I went into the gear option and that box is already unchecked for me but I can't bypass it
