Expansion Of Dark Sector Missions

I for one actually see great potential with this Dark Sector content, alas I feel the rewards for it are a bit lackluster and some players find the lack of diversity and the lack of difficulty quite disappointing. If you do have some plans to expand on the content of Dark Sectors and the Solar Rails, then allow me to give you a head start?

Variation of Tenno Spectres

So far, the only Specters we have seen are Ember, Trinity, Excalibur, Volt, Rhino, Frost, and Loki. I feel that adding the other frames to the Specter lineup like Vauban, Hydroid, Valkyr, etc. would be quit awesome to do. Also, expand on the weapons they can use like Paris, Boar, Burston, Bronco, Orthos, etc.

One other feature you can add is to have these Dark Sector missions have a stronger version of Tenno Specters called:

Adept Tenno Specter

Flesh: 300

Proto Shield: 120

Alloy Armor: 30

Special: Can summon Orokin Drones

Different Missions

So the scope of the Dark Sector fights is to destroy the Alliance/Clan's Solar Rail. Seeing how huge the Solar Rails are, a mere sabotage mission might not cut it to stop these Solar Rails. So would suggest a few new missions:

Cargo Raid

Description: Its a race against time. Tenno Specters are guarding a cargo containing a surplus of resources to be escorted to their supporting clan. The cargo is suspended by a huge Orokin Cargo Drone (this version does not attack) and if that drone travels to its check point, you loose the cargo for good. Your objective is simple: Destroy the Cargo Drone before it reaches the checkpoint. Tenno Specters near the Cargo Drone will cause the drone to increase its speed, but if you and your team is nearby it, it will slow down. The cargo will have a very powerful shield that can be disabled by hacking into a nearby console. Reward for this missions yields high resource payment, but this will inflict low damage to the opposing Solar Rails.

Communication Attack

Description: Solar Rails are equipped with a communication bank that allows the clan to monitor progress of their Solar Rails and any impending intrusion to their defenses. In order to bypass their security to their communication system, you must first hunt 2-4 Adept Tenno Specters that have a package that contains the codes and deliver those codes to the communication room where you can crack the system and plant a virus to hinder their network and escape to extraction. Yields high damage to Solar Rails, but lower resource payment.

Hinder Defenses

Description: Solar Rails have their own defense system preventing incoming opposition from entering the area. While you have managed to enter the Dark Sector, you have to make sure your other comrades get to do that too. This mission is difficult: hunt down the strongest version of a Tenno Specter who is defending the defense system, then head to extraction. This boss can be called:

Primed Tenno Specter

Flesh: 400

Proto Shield:150

Alloy Armor: 40

Special: Upon reaching ~60% and ~30% of its health, it can summon 2-3 Adept Tenno Specters. Uses Prime Weapons and can either be Excalibur Prime, Ember Prime, Mag Prime, Frost Prime, or Rhino Prime.

Completing this mission yields high damage to Solar Rails and high resource reward.

Rewards for Dark Sectors

So far, the battle pay for Dark Sectors is relatively low depending on the Clan's willingness to pay. Another thing some players did not like is that they expected to receive the resources you get when using Extractors on a planet. This is what I would suggest to add some incentive to doing Dark Sectors:

Depending on how much a clan is willing to pay, each mission will also reward resources you would get on a planet based on the clan's willingness to pay. For instance:

Clan 1 trying to control a Dark Sector in Europa is willing to pay a low amount of credits (and low taxes) which also yields lower amount of resource rewards of Morphics, Rubedo, Fieldron Samples, and Control Modules. The second clan, Clan 2, is willing to pay higher amount (with higher taxes) grants Tennos more resources and rarer resources at a higher chance compared to Clan 1.

A player's participation in Dark Sector should be counted. That way, it can be known which Tenno has supported which clan during the Dark Sector fight. At the end of the fight, the supporting Clan will reward supporting Tenno with a new item called Specter Summon Tag and additional credits/resources.

Specter Summon Tag, when used in a mission, can summon an Adept Tenno Specter to help fight along side the player during a mission.

Tenno Specters (mainly the Adept and Prime ones) should have a chance to drop special rewards @ a rare chance with Adept Specters or a more uncommon chance with a Prime Specter. These rewards can yield to Prime Weapon parts, rare resources, and or mods (especially those Generic Warframe Mods in the Developer Thread).

I do like this, but the only possible problem is spamming high-damage missions to quickly deplete an enemy Solar Rail of health - if that happens, it'd be a massive waste of resources to even build one if you know that once deployed, yours will be in pieces 24 hours later.

Which is why I also thought up one other idea: cooldowns.

Each of these missions will have a cooldown of some sort as to not encourage abuse and also to make players more careful on who they pick to support and how they will fight inside the area. I gather perhaps a 20~30 minute cooldown for doing a clan mission in one node each should suffice.

I also would like to make a new Concept about Hidden Void Bosses. A boss found only by using special keys that are accessed to the Void. These bosses are what you would call actually big/difficult bosses with high enough health and can only be fought within a 12~24 hours after each attempt.

I had an idea where Spectre difficulty is determined by players. Make specteres drop some sort of resource or something that can be used to passively boost your spectre, and then whenever your spectre gets a kill, you get a small reward for it. That way the players skill and dedication has some sway on how well a sector is invaded or defended!

  • 2 weeks later...

allowing parties to flag up during their rail runs for head to head pvp against groups of queued defenders would REALLY spice this up

I suggested this as have a couple others...
