Hixlysss
Out of all the melee weapons we have, only 4 do mostly puncture damage 2 of which can only be found in alerts (Ceramic and Heat Dagger.) And the other 2 are the same weapon basically, fang and fang prime. We have quite a few impact weapons, and mostly slash. But i'm sorry, Slash isn't effective against corpus or grineer, Fantastic against the infested though. Impact is good against corpus shields, meh against grineer and infested. We have scores of other weapons that are vastly diverse in damage types, yet melee weapons seem to be stuck in this setting of Slash and Smash, which is great except slash and smash doesn't work on everything. If I wanna fight grineer, I wanna take a weapon that is naturally good against them, and buff it up. So I'd grab something like a Dera, Kunai, and I'm suddenly limited in my melee choices to one of four melee weapons. For Corpus I have 8/9 options, Fragor, Jat Kittag, Magistar, Akyros, Furax, Ankyros Prime, Obex, Kogake, Kestrel. And sure, maybe only 3 of these are really "worth" using (Jat Kitaag, Kestral, Akyros Prime) but there is still diversity in what TYPE of weapon I can actually bring rather than being limited to "Dagger". I understand that daggers are meant to be puncture weapons, meant for getting past armor to weak spots. But that shouldn't stop you from having Puncture versions of Hammers or Sparring weapons, even a puncture focused Glaive could work. Personally, for every "type" of melee weapon (Dual Swords, Swords, ect.) there should be one weapon that focuses on each type of physical damage, maybe even elemental at some point but as it stands we have waaaaaay too many melee weapons. But anyway, that is what the primary weapons seem to follow. For each type, Sniper, Bow, Rifle, Shotgun, there is at least one that focuses on each physical damage type. So why is it, melee weapons seem to forgo this? At the moment, it's because we have so many weapons that just look like slashy things and the community probably would be confused why their Cronus or Pangolin is doing puncture damage. Also, are we at a point where we can retire some of these melee weapons? We have way too many of em and I'm pretty sure like half aren't even used or out classed by something else, probably a lot of the alert weapons too. Any chance of moving the alert weapons to blueprints any time soon? Or clan tech even?
ROSING
I mean, there's the jaw sword, but...you know...it's not very good.

VKhaun
I think some of the stances do attacks that convert some or all of your physical damage into puncture. http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Phoenix "...with Puncture finisher". Hixlysss
There "was". Jaw sword is not a puncture damage weapon anymore after melee 2.0. It's like DE is saying "Oh, you wanna use melee? Better not fight the grineer unless you wanna use one of four weapons spread across 2 weapon types." I also forgot about the Staves, Bo and Amphis, so that is what...10 weapons spread across 5 weapon types that do impact. Slashing is...everywhere needless to say. We just...need more diversity among melee weapons. The primary thing is swords, which is fine but give us some things that feel unique to warframe. Like the Glaive~ I mean, where are the one handed blunt weapons at? Or dual hammer style weapons? At this point I'd take a freaking wrench/crowbar as a weapon ffs. Even if it requires new stances, it would be worth it. I think some of the stances do attacks that convert some or all of your physical damage into puncture. http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Phoenix "...with Puncture finisher". Yes. Finisher meaning the ground move. That's fine and all except...that is one move, that only happens when enemies are knocked down. Not something we can chain combos with. But moving that aside, we need more puncture weapons if only for sheer diversity of weapons. Edited April 20, 2014 by Rikov
Starender
have to admit that it is true 90% of weapons are slash which is crap, 7% are blunt which is not that good, puncture is by far the best type of damage but besides knifes good luck finding one i'd like to see a hammer with a spike at the end, or a trident, we sure need some of those
Noble_Cactus
A trident would be cool. Thought we'd get one with Hydroid until pirates happened. I saw an idea in the fan creations subforum that was essentially a javelin or spear you could throw. It would impale the target, then could be recalled back to the user's hands on command and cause damage on the return trip with full punch-through. It'd be the puncture member of the Glaive and Kestrel family. Edited April 20, 2014 by Noble_Cactus
DarknightK
Likewise, I've seen a fan weapon which is aptly named the Infested Naginta. It had a charge attack that would lunge the user forward, doing massive puncture damage to one target (much like the Galatine's old charge attack damage, but only to one enemy, for maximum badassery). It would be really nice if we had precision weapons like these. And that Javelin too.
ROSING
There "was". Jaw sword is not a puncture damage weapon anymore after melee 2.0. Aw, DAFUQ?? Then what the hell is it good for?
TinFoilMkIV
Aw, DAFUQ?? Then what the hell is it good for? Absolutely nothing. now that its been said, it is quite sad, I really liked the Jaw sword model even tho the weapon itself was never terribly impressive apart from its brief glory as a puncture longsword.
